“Electric Forest, Must See!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

Evening walk on a cold clear night in the illuminated forest.

A brilliant, albeit chilly, time was had by young and old alike at Thetford Forest's Electric Forest attraction.
Thoroughly recommend for families and couples.
Push chair friendly-ish but could be difficult on a wet night.
The walk begins with a short briefing about what you are going to see in the forest and what to look out for, there are prizes for kiddies if they find special flashing stars. You then proceed under the Go-Ape section on to the first of several playgrounds, of which all are floodlit, and big enough for the biggest of kids. You then meander through the forest and admire the light show as trees and forest are brought to life in a melody of sound and vision. It's a pleasant invasion of your senses as you take in the spectacular natural architecture of the leafless trees whilst colours dance across their trunks and canopies against a pitch-black back drop.

Half way round there is a concessionary area complete with fire pits over which marshmallows can be toasted whilst you sup on a welcome cup of hot chocolate. My advice would be to ensure you get a nice hot cup here because there is still a way to go, and it is rather cold out there.

On you go to enjoy further amazing sights and interpretive and interactive light shows, whilst the kiddies look for flashing stars and learn about the animals and plants that live in the forest.

Back at the lodge there is a great selection of hot food available and welcome fire to warm yourself by whilst you reflect on the experience of the Electric Forest. A great festive treat!

Don't forget your camera or your thermal undies!

“Rip off parking charges...DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG...Dog walking ghost town”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

We visited in October and were made to pay £1.90 per hour to park the car. I was disgusted with the way the forest is gated on entry. You had to go into the forest via an intercom and barrier. It is a forest, not a prison. There was something eerie about the park and it hit me somewhat strange, that there were no fellow dog walkers here.

We paid at the booth the parking charge and for a map. We had travelled to the park to walk the dog. We were shocked that after talking about the various paths and buying a map to be faced with a large notice sign informing dog owners about a mystery illness leading to vomiting and in some cases death. Our friendly chat with the attendant had not disclosed this and I demanded to see the Manager to complain about why the warning signs had not been placed on the entrance. I immediately demanded my money back and carried the dog to the car. I watched as many dog owners followed and were warning other owners who had entered the carpark. Please do not risk bringing your dog here. This place is no longer a park, it has been taken over by a greedy enterprise that will lead to the closure of a once wonderful park.

If you like being outdoors and walking, Thetford Forest is a nice place to visit. In December they have The Electric Forest, a night walk where they illuminate the forest landscape.

“Come rain or shine, loads of adventure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The weather does not affect this outdoor adventure provided you take the right clothes. It is an ideal activity for both children (^upwards) to grown ups. Apart from the tree walks there is a cable slide, Segways and bar-b-q areas (Designated).

Nice cafe on site serving hot food all day...toilet block (Very clean) including disabled facilities (Not mentioned on their web site, but they should.

Not particularly wheelchair friendly in some areas, but when we went we took the Mobility scooter which worked fine.

This was a Birthday Party for our Grandson and 8 of his friends...concessions and discounts are available for parties including a designated picnic shelter for lunch etc. and carparking.

Well worth the trip, and to prolong the stay, takje your bikes as there are some excellent tracks for exploring the forest.

we were on our way home from yarmouth going back to northamptonshire and decided to stop off for a walk around the lovely forest having been before, many years ago.we had to give the parking charges £1-90p per hour a double take as before it had been free,it started to pour with rain so after 70 mins and £3-80p we left and will not be going back.
