Review of Marsh's Boats

Marsh's Boats
Reviewed July 8, 2017 via mobile

Booked the 1300 trip, first on the boat and told where to sit by a very arrogant captain, we are pushed to one side next to the cabin. I asked to sit at the back and was told to stay where I was put. I think he failed to understand we're paying customers. All we could see was the view where we were coming from and not where were we going. Couldn't take any photos all I could see was the cabin and all the other passengers. As were are live here every weekend we would have used it more frequently and recommended it to family and friends but not now.

If you remember rightfully on that trip there was a family of seven with a push chair whom was best suited at the stern section of the boat, meaning the other 4 passengers at the bow section two either side to balance the boat, I asked you to come to the bow of the boat for this reason, Safety. You refused meaning splitting the family up.
Sorry if I upset your feelings but I do have to make every attempt possible to make the trip as safe as possible and the first priority to any skipper is loading the boat correctly.

We went on Saturday 23rd and found the trip to be good value, the driver was really informative and even in choppy waters we felt safe the whole time. Would do the Jurassic coast trip again

We took the 12 o click boat trip with a 5 year old and just 2 other tourists.
The boat, Precious is a distinctive blue and yellow, has a small open helm space and an open back for seated passengers or fishermen.
Several trips are advertised going in both directions but the one to Lulworth has stronger winds and can be cancelled.
You sit near to the waterline and can get sprayed by sea water on the return journey.
There is boat roll so you need to like boat trips.
We were lucky to be allowed to shelter in the captain's cabin so were protected a little on the rocky return.
We were taken along the Swanage bay and around to the base of Old Harry rocks so had amazing sight without the energy needed for the long walk over the top.
The captain gives a little commentary about the rock formation and naming.
The operation may be run on a shoe string but it gives you the best view of the rocks.

The mackerel fishing trip cost £15 for an hour and a half at sea. They provide the fishing equipment and you're allowed to keep what you catch. It made for a lovely lunch baked in tomatoes and garlic.

Although the boat did not say it came with a commentary the captain gave a very knowledgeable account of the wildlife which was very impressive . Me and my mum saw a seal and a puffin as well as dancing ledge. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting swanage.
