“Very Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed May 23, 2012

Stayed for weekend break with 7 friends. Staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and efficient. Food excellent, dinner and breakfast. Rooms clean, comfortable, had all we wanted. Good position overlooking sea with path down to beach. Decor slightly dated but OK (in keeping with the average age of guests 60+, including us!!). Reasonable value for money. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ring before to request sea view or not. I was on crutches so very helpful reception staff allocated...

On a mini break, I stayed at the Pines Hotel for one night. It was extremely enjoyable. Staff were very friendly with a decent knowledge of the local area and were very helpful. We had a warm welcome from them.

Our hotel room was comfortable if a little small. Although some reviews call the hotel past its prime, the room we stayed in was recently decorated and clean. The views from the window over the sea were stunning.

The hotel has a large comfy lounge and an adult lounge upstairs overlooking the sea with books and boardgames to borrow. The gardens are pretty and the only downside was that the path down to the beach below the hotel was shut.

Breakfast the following morning was a very traditional British seaside breakfast with a menu rather than buffet style. Traditional right down to the smell of kippers!

The hotel is situtated a short walk along the seafront from Swanage which is a charming seaside town! I would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Worth the extra money for the sea view!

Stayed at The Pines with a colleague, found the hotel excellent value for money, very clean and comfortable, perhaps a little dated but still very good value. Friendly staff and fantastic sea views.

We stayed overnight here and found the rooms clean and comfortable, all the staff were so friendly from housekeeping through to reception, nothing false just genuinely happy and polite, the chef made a really lovely tea for our children at their 5:30pm tea time so we didn't have to wait until evening service, he came into the restaurant and chatted with us and was very charming.

We really couldn't have been made more welcome and we had a thoroughly pleasant stay here.

The hotel is in a wonderful location with fabulous cliff top views, It was a short drive to the main beach - a 10 minute walk at most but near to the hotel was a steep path that led down to a very quiet private beach which had a cafe and a "no dogs" area so it was perfect for our very small children to play.

The kippers at breakfast were really wonderful.

Amazing cliff top views. Has been upgraded and our sea view room had all the main facilities which were in good working order. Great breakfast, but dinner less impressive. Friendly staff.
