We have been regulars here for the whole time it was Ocean Bay and have mostly had excellent meals. We took some friends visiting Swanage recently. The menu was a bit too fishy for one of them, but nevertheless we all chose something we wanted, and had an enjoyable meal. And of course, the views and setting are amazing.

The restaurant makes to most of its position right on the beach and you can enjoy sea views without sitting at one of the large picture windows. Its furnishing and décor is pleasing the eye yet a bit uninviting. When we got to our table, it became evident why it seemed uninviting: none of us had ever before felt the need to sit inside a restaurant with fleece and jackets on, and we were not the only ones. Of course, the calendar said it was summer (mid-June), but temperatures were low that night so why leave the front door open when you see your guests freezing? When the waiter came to take our orders, he needed quite a lot of time to explain, what they were out of… ok, they were busy that night. Food was nice but portions moderate (we’re all not big eaters), we did not have puddings as, yes, they were out of crackers so couldn’t serve the cheese board. Strange to us, is there no substitute or a shop to go to and get some? Well, we wouldn’t go back and must say we can’t recommend it.

The food was of an excellent standard with friendly service, especially Ellie. We enjoyed afternoons and an evening visit here. Would recommend you try a meal here during a stay in Swanage

We have recently visited this restaurant - it was recommended by the proprietor of our B&B. The location is first class, overlooking Swanage Bay and the food was excellent. The restaurant was fairly busy yet we were still served quickly and our waiter was very attentive.
The food was tasty and I can recommend the hake and chowder dish - absolutely delicious. A great place to eat.

Had heard mixed reviews about this place so was a bit apprehensive about eating here. Love to eat watching the sun go down, so booked a table in the window. Despite an initial hiccup with the seating arrangements, we managed to get a better window table. The service was good and the food was fresh and well cooked. They've a nifty system on the tables that lets you call for more food, more drinks or pay the bill. Worked really well, we were able to get quick service on both additional drinks and getting the bill. Lots of groups and parties for a Saturday night but it added to the atmosphere. Will be going back.
