“Perfect Location and Great Host”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

This B&B is perfectly placed - a stones throw from both the beach and the town centre. Alan is a warm and welcomimg host. He took over the B&B in June and it is his dream to be in Swanage running a B&B - this passion really comes through and he did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable (which it was!). We had an upstairs room with double bed and bunk beds (just the 2 of us) - a nice size and very clean. Small ensuite shower room, but no need for it to be bigger. The off street parking is great and takes away the pain of looking for parking and moving the car. A lovely place to stay!

We have just returned from staying at caythorpe .Alan gave us a very warm welcome with an added bonus of tea and biscuits on arrival. Rooms lovely and clean .Great location .We were staying for the folk festival so could`nt have book a better spot. Beach is at the botton of the road with the town a short walk away . Alan was very helpful and alway cheerful .The guest house also has a lovely garden (which he worked hard on over the weekend we stayed ) You are able to park off road , we did`nt need to move the car during our stay with everything so close so another bonus if you don`t want to drive during your stay. We stayed at the Caythorpe after seeing the hotel while visiting the area a few months before hand and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The room was lovely and clean and we had a lovely view of the sea too. The breakfast supplied was extremely generous with the choice of cereal, fruit juices, fresh fruit and they also served a full english breakfast aswell which really set us up for the day. We will definately be looking forward to staying there again.
Alan looked after us really well and this hotel is definately worth staying at.

We've just returned from a 3 night break. Very warm welcome from Alan on arrival, nice touch with the tea and biscuits. En-suite room very clean and good size. Excellent breakfast with good choice. Good location, no need to use the car as very close to Swanage town centre with good bus links to Bournemouth and beyond. Would definitely return.

We very much enjoyed our 3 night stay in the heart of Swanage. Our room was quiet and very comfortable, breakfast was very good with loads of choice. And Alan the owner was very attentive and helpful. Somehow he manages to remember the names of every guest, which makes one feel at home.

We stayed here one night as we were en route westwards. It seems the perfect base from which to enjoy Swanage, or explore the Dorset countryside further afield. Couldn't have suited our needs better as the accommodation had off-street parking and was no distance to walk to beach and all the town's amenities. Our room was spacious and clean with a modern bathroom. The decor was fine (apart from the carpet, which wasn't really to my taste!) Lovely large mugs in the room for making hot drinks. We appreciated the warm welcome from host Alan, and will definitely stay here again when we are next in the area. Thank you for the great hospitality.

Room Tip: Ours was the twin room on the ground floor at the back of the house. Comfortable and quiet. There is...

Situated just a few minutes walk from both town and beach, Caythorpe House is in a great central location.

Proprietor Alan couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming throughout our stay providing us with local information about where to eat and visit, and also being a great conversationalist.

Our twin ensuite room was clean and comfortable, and very reasonably priced.

The full English breakfast is excellent – thanks Alan for a great start to the day!

I’d recommend Caythorpe to anyone visiting Swanage.
