The Grand hotel is a fantastic place to stay or have a function like a wedding, as we did. They have helpful and friendly staff. The manager is a brilliant organiser and helped to arrange my wedding with me. She sorted out the little problems that arose that were not due to the hotel of course. The location is perfect, overlooking the whole of Swanage, with a lovely garden and a stairway down to the beach. I could not have asked for more, they helped to make my wedding wonderful. The food was excellent and eventhough they catered for over 50 people, the food was brilliant, and all the guests agreed with us.
We stayed an extra few nights and enjoyed ourselves, we had been to the Grand before and I went when I was a child and I think it's a great place to stay. We will be back again!

Room Tip: The rooms with sea view are lovely and we had a balcony where we had a glass of champayne.

Had 2 nights D,B&B in a sea view room for £314, and it was worth it for the view alone! The hotel is in an amazing spot overlooking Swanage bay and to be able to lie in bed and look out along the bay is amazin. The sound of the sea at night was the most therapeutic thing I have experienced in a long while. The room was well appointed and clean as was the bathroom despite the 70's decor and wouldn't be suitable for anyone with arthritis due to the high step over the bath edge into the shower! The food was very good with plenty of choice and very well presented served by pleasant and accomodating staff. We didn't use the spa, but had a look around and it all looked very clean and pleasant. The terrace is a wonderful place to sit and admire the view and sip whatever you fancy from the bar-could have done with a wider choice of wine by the glass as if you don't like pino grigio rose (which we don't) there is no other choice, we did however enjoy the prosecco very much! The beach is within a stone throw down some steep steps and it is a very pleasant 10 minute stroll into the centre of Swanage. We will definately return and fully inend to do so without a shadow of a doubt.

Room Tip: opt for the sea view, you won't regret it

You will feel most welcome at the grand food is of a high standard, whether taken in the dining room or conservatory, with stunning sea views. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable, sea view worth the extra!
Bear in mind though the age of this hotel,i have seen it described as tired, which i would not go so far as to say,but hey it all adds to the charm.overall we enjoyed our 2 nights at the grand, if i had any negatives it would be the cost. Then again we were no strangers to rhe bar!
Bottom line? With its setting close to swanage id say worth a stay . Oh and visit the lifeboat station.Charming!

Beautiful location and wonderful views from my room. All let down by shabby out of date decor, badly designed bathroom, indifferent breakfast and lack of parking. However, there is easy access to the beach and only a short walk to town and local amenities meaning there is no need to use your car. Staff were pleasant and reception was very helpful. Glad I was only staying one night.
