A wonderful trip! IT great to be on a real train again....It took us back to our childhood in the fifties and the service from the staff was excellent. IT was nice to see a real guard blowing a whistle and waving a flag.

My wife and I jumped aboard the Bistro train last night and what a treat we had. All of the staff were brilliant and extremely welcoming. The food was home made and delicious and simply excellent value for money. We felt like a million dollars as we watched the scenery slowly pass by whilst we were waited on by the professional volunteers. If you are within a 100 miles of the Swanage railway whilst on holiday, make the effort and jump on board, you will not regret the experience. Thank you to everyone involved with the running of this delightful railway and especially to those working last night, Friday 14th June 2013. Chris & Julie

I use the Swanage Railway on a regular basis whist out walking. Its ideal to leave your car at Corfe Castle or Norden and catch the train back after a lovely walk.
All the stations are great and the volunteer staff are really good fun as well as being helpful. They often have different locomtives and although I'm no train spottter this takes me back to my childhood.
Its not as cheap as the bus but its certainly more fun!

We planned in our train ride as part of a day cycling in the area. we parked at Norden park and ride, which was £3.00 for the day, you can walk to Corfe caste from here very easily. We cycled from here on the rempstone ride, starting at the car park and travelling via heathlands and woodlands to the coast to studland. Glorious views and landscape, England at her most beautiful in sunny June! We then cycled along the coast to Swanage, where we met the train.
The station was lovely, we were able to take the bikes and doggy trailer and dogs on with no hassle. Tickets were a bit pricey at £15.00 for 2 adults and 2 doggies, but it was a lovely way to finish such a nice day out.
At swanage and Norden stations were buffet cars as little cafes for a cuppa tea or snack. the little touches at the stations on route were very nice, luggage stacks and boxes with carrier pigeons etc, and a nostalgia for a time I never experienced was evoked.
well done to all those hard working volunteers for creating such a memorable experience.
