This is a lot of fun.

If you want to save money, skip swanage and just do Norden to Corfe Castle on the train and then walk back. We went all the way to swanage but it was a bit boring and we took the next train back, we could have saved 20 quid or so by not going the full distance.

Corfe Castle town is really nice and worth stopping at.

We went on to Durdle Door afterwards which everyone enjoyed more.

“Nice”

Brilliant. The Swanage Railway is one of the leading preserved railways in the country. It's run to exceptionally high standards. The staff all take a pride in what they do and are most helpful. Swanage station is maintained in a 1950's/60's style and is an exceptional restoration. Make sure you stop for tea in the buffet car!

Lovely way to see the Dorset country side. A trio down memory lane, seeing the steam train was fantastic.

Corfe Castle has a small museum and it's worth taking the time to explore.
Can't wait until they get back to Wareham!

“Swanage steam day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

I travelled on the railway on a weekend service. The trains were clean and the service ran on time. We had tea and cake at Corfe Castle and visited the National trust shop in the village. I thought the staff on the railway were all very enthusiastic and were keen to help passengers with prams and bikes. The museum at Corfe was well worth a visit. I felt the fare was cheap compared to other heritage lines. The views from the train were stunning. A great day out. I would recommend it.
