I was booked into this establishment by the institution I was visiting in Sherborne for a one night stay. It is part of a chain of pub/hotel hybrids run by the Marstons brewery chain. The car park is a pay&display situated at the rear of the premises and accessed via a lane to the right hand side of the building. If you are staying at the hotel you do not need to display a ticket but you must give your registration number to the receptionist when you check in.
The hotel itself is situated in the centre of the historic town close to a few restaurants and next door to another pub, the Three Plumes (see separate review). Although my room was a single, it had plenty of space with a sizeable en suite bathroom. The radiator in the main room was built into the fittings and in accessible and the one in the bathroom had no knobs to turn it down with so I reverted to the (rather wasteful) temperature control method of opening the windows.
The plumbing in the building is probably fairly old and the cold water tap in the sink produced a sound that Dizzy Gillespie would have been proud of.
The breakfast - and it was nice to see breakfast included in the room price - was good quality.
All in all, for £37 it was cheaper than I normally pay for a night in a plastic travelodge clone type hotel and I would certainly stay there again.
