Can I firstly say a big thank you to Kev and Chrissie for their warm hospitality. 15 thirsty wet and hungry cricketers with no cricket to play descended upon skippers on Saturday 14th September 2013. We sampled the local beers and ciders and had a very good afternoon playing darts and pool and watching all the live sport on the numerous big screens. I would like to recommend the home made pies especially the chicken and mushroom it was so good I have to admit I had it again when we returned again the next day after a game of golf. The locals were very friendly and hopefully we did not take over the pool table and darts board too much. We will be returning again next year and hopefully Chrissie won't do a rain dance so we get to play a bit of cricket. If you go to Skippers sample the food!

Me and our cricket club - Crawley Down (of which there were 15 of us) - were on tour in Sherborne weekend just gone. Due too the miserable wet weather our pre-planned cricket tour was a bit of a wet one. Not too be dettered the group organiser had been too Skippers over 10 years ago when it was a restaurant but the lure of darts, pool and sky was enough for us too decide our wet, lack of cricket saturday was best spent in the pub and this was our option. We had a great time. The staff were friendly as were the locals and we spent a long time (and a lot of money behind the bar) and had a great time. It was so much fun we spent all of our rest day (Sunday) doing the same. We will definately be back It was a great place and although i didnt eat the food reviews from the guys who did thought it was brilliant. Thanks for a great time.

In May while staying in Sherborne, we had been to Tolpuddle to the Martyrs Inn, had an excellent lunch, on our return to the hotel, we passed Skippers, a pub we had noted before on one of our stays. My husband felt like another pint and we thought we would investigate, there was a good car park and a lovely garden, with umbrellas for shade.
The pub was very busy with locals watching a football match, it was noisy with high exuberance from all the patrons. The landlady spotted us immediately served us with smile and suggested that the garden maybe more relaxing, she joined us in the garden, I asked her for a menu, explaining we had eaten, but the following day we wanted to explore Sherborne. We felt that as her manner had been most helpful we would like to sample her fare.
The following day after an exhausting exploration of Sherborne, we made our way back to the pub, we had left the hotel by the top road and taken a circular trip around the town so we were really looking forward to our lunch.
We were not disappointed our lunch was delicious and the choices on the menu all looked appetizing, With the passing time I cannot recall what we chose but I do know on our next visit we will return, as the landlady has made great improvements to Skippers, probably the reason we had not sampled the pub before.
Well worth a visit if you are staying in the local hotel, on half board, it puts the hotel food to shame !!

Having seen Skippers is under new management we thought to try their Sunday lunch.
They gave us an excellent cut of meat along with a nice choice of vegetables all fresh and very
tasty. This was followed by home made desert, lovely. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We are definitely returning.

Me and my partner are now regulars since the pub was taken over by new management and we love it! Friendly staff, brilliant home cooked food and the pool table/dart board make for a fun night out. Looking forward to the summer so we can enjoy the lovely beer garden!
