The food is fine but nothing spectacular, and nor is the coffee. Certainly not bad, but not quite as good as they seem to think. Service is pleasant but again, you should reasonably expect decent service. What I found odd was the way they seemed to expect customers to effuse over the food ("how was your sandwich? only OK? would you have preferred a different ham? we find customer always prefer coffee served this way" (rather than accepting that I prefer coffee served very strong and then justifying serving it week!). It is what you would expect in a wealthy town like Sherborne - very good quality but they do seem to think they are a little better than they are

Oliver's Coffee House is an absolute gem and a 'must' for coffee if you are in Sherborne.

The staff are very welcoming and the menu caters for all tastes, whether it be just a cup of coffee or a light lunch

Oliver's has got a lovely feel about it which is evident from the moment you walk in. We chose to sit at the long table in the shop, There were 9 customers sitting at the table and there was plenty of room for more. It is obviously a local meeting place and the fact that there are magazines and papers to read make it just that bit special. If you do not want to sit at the front of the shop there is plenty of room in two other areas at the back.

The coffee is excellent and very good value for money. We could not resist buying a sausage roll to take out for a picnic lunch later - it was perfect..

We will certainly visit again when we are next in Sheborne!

Have been in this place before several years ago. Stopped in for a coffee and some cake. The coffee was rather good and enjoyable - the cake was good too. The decor and cleanliness were a bit average, and the tables could all do with a thorough wipe to remove marks and split sugar. There are other places in Sherborne to try so it wont be back for a while.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Sorry to hear your table wasn't clean, I'll make sure the staff are reminded to wipe tables where possible when they are cleared. We do find that people seem to enjoy playing with the sugar sticks and leaving piles of sugar everywhere sometimes! We have recently decorated the middle room and hopefully we'll be able to spruce up the other areas at some point when we've saved up some more money.
Hopefully the coffee and cake will be enough to tempt you back at some point in the future, we'll pass your feedback on to our cook and coffee supplier.

I'm never disappointed at Oliver's. This place has been here as a coffee house under various management for over 20 years of my living memory (and probably longer). It's had ups and downs but I'm pleased to say that we now regularly visit when in Sherborne for coffee, two or three times per year over the past 5 years. What attracts us here? Probably the wide selection of tempting cakes at reasonable prices! The coffee is good, the service is friendly and efficient and the welcome feels genuine. We usually take young children with us and make use of one of the booths at the back of the shop to sit down. I love the atmosphere in Oliver's, the furnishings and different seating arrangements and the sense of community - the main seating area has a large table that different people occupy corners of and there are usually other pairs of people around the outside seating areas and it all feels friendly and more relaxed than cafes where you sit at individual tables keeping yourself to yourself. There are lots of places for coffee in Sherborne and I will still choose Oliver's who've not yet disappointed.
