“Beautiful site and luxurious service”

Stayed at this hotel for our wedding night! The service was simply outstanding from reservation to checkout. The hotel itself is beautifully presented and spotlessly maintained. We had a suite with its own private garden. It was spacious, nicely decorated and extremely comfortable - catering easily for a bride, three bridesmaids and a photographer.

Breakfast was delicious and varied, but the dinner menu was a bit underwhelming - tried a bit too hard with the pretension and didn't quite deliver the goods in the end product. That and the high price stops the Eastbury getting 5 stars from me. Still by far the best hotel in the area.

Booked for dinner to celebrate our daughters graduation. It was baking hot and we were immediately offered a beautiful table in the garden with ice cold water to cool us down. We knew the food was likely to be amazing so we all ordered different things so we could try little bits of each others. We were one very happy table, the flavour combinations were so clever, the food was gorgeous to look at and there were some lovely touches - for instance a row of miniature ice cream cones arriving before our dessert.

The staff here are all exceptional and Brett Sutton is a top class chef with a huge imagination. Finally, what makes this place so good (apart from the food) is the general all round excellence combined with a lack of stuffiness, meaning after such a busy and emotional day, we just relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

We arrived very late after midnight and were received from graciously by the on call staff member. The room was excellent although I would prefer a larger shower and no bath! The tap arrangements were quaint! Our room faced the garden which certainly eliminated the potential of road noise however Long Street is not too busy through the night. Breakfast was great but we had dinner one night and were disappointed at the cost and the rather pretentious menu. Overall the hotel appeared to charge what I would have expected in a major city.

Room Tip: Rear rooms should eliminate and potential road noise.

Stayed for a couple of nights over May half term. We had a huge room with three extra camp beds for the children (which looked very comfortable!), and a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was very nice and we didn't feel at all as if the children were out of place. The kitchen staff were very accomodating to the children's requests for odd selections of things at breakfast. There isn't much in the hotel for children to do admittedly, but there is the garden and of course the whole of Sherborne to walk around.

We stayed at The Eastbury for one evening. We found it by searching for places on line - and came across the hotel website. Unfortunately, when we saw and the website and what we found when we arrived were not even close to being the same. I was sadly disappointed in the room we were given. It looked nothing like the rooms shown on the website.

We had an older room with a new bathroom. The bathroom was an interior room, with no light. It had a decent shower. The room itself was a bit "tired" and dark. I thought it was a bit over-priced compared to what we had been spending and the quality of where we had stayed previously.

The restaurant was like a convention hotel. We did not eat dinner, but did enjoy a very lovely breakfast. The food was excellent. The service and staff were great. The bar was dated and unappealing. Honestly - I was fooled by the website.

Room Tip: You might ask where the room pictured on their website is....

Recommended by a friend who had previously stayed here, our long weekend break was effectively shot in the dark, but it was a real winner. The room (Bluebell) was comfortable and well presented, the general ambience of the hotel was relaxed and welcoming. The Eastbury is set on a pleasant town street at the front, and in an English Country Garden at the rear, overlooked by the conservatory dining room, so that bird and squirrel antics competed to distract our attention from the wonderful food at breakfast time.
The cooking generally was excellent - really well presented, almost all locally produced and with flavours and textures mixed and matched to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our one dinner and wished we could have stayed for more.
The one small problem was the extraordinarily noisy electric shower pump in our ensuite bathroom, but our main concern about it was hoping we didn't disturb any guests who may have been in the adjacent room.

Room Tip: Try asking for a "spacious" room

Very good bed and breakfast - reception staff particularly helpful. Lovely room with very comfortable bed. Bedrooms have flower names rather than numbers.

Breakfast in garden room was of a high standard and the service was very attentive.
