We have just had 2 nights with a LivingSocial voucher, which included bed, breakfast and dinner on one of the nights and have had the most fantastic stay. Our room in the converted part of the hotel was a standard room but it was spacious, incredibly comfortable, and decor was modern and fresh. We ate in the restaurant on our first evening and the meal was delicious. All the ingredients are locally sourced and the freshness comes through, but taste was really something to savour - the steak and chips were especially good and it pretty much tops anywhere else I've been to! - and we bought some of the green tarragon mustard that accompanied it, to take home as it was delicious. Based on the experience of the dinner we had the English breakfast the following morning, and again every element was superb.
Some people have mentioned in their reviews the kitchen vent keeping them awake at night; from our room we could see it but the noise was unobtrusive and hardly noticeable.
I'd highly recoemend the hotel and would revisit the Eastbury in heartbeat.

We also stayed at The Eastbury whilst taking advantage of the 'Travelzoo' offer, ie a 1 night stay b&b with dinner (Taster Menu) included in the price. From the time of booking to the time of leaving we could not fault a thing. The room was very clean and pretty (standard as we had left it too late to upgrade) but there was really no need. Our room (Kingcup) overlooked the lovely garden and was opposite a pretty stone builidng and we enjoyed watching other guests making their way to dinner whilst we enjoyed a drink in our room. The bed was really comfortable with lovely cotton duvet & pillowcases which felt very luxurious.
Dinner was fantastic - we opted for the 'accompanying wines served with the taster menu' and mentioned at reception how good they were and how tempted we were to ask for a copy of the menu in order to buy the wines again, the lovely chap on Reception offered immediately to provide us with a copy - what service ?!
We enjoy staying at hotels and luxury b&b's as often as our holiday allowance allows us and this is definitely one of the best experiences we have had and excellent value for money. Sherborne is also a very pretty town with some interesting and classy shops as well as having an Art Exhibition the day we were there so we spent two hours walking round whilst trying to work off our very good cooked breakfast.
We will definitely visit again and will recommend it to our family and friends.

Room Tip: Overlooking the garden which was delightful.

We booked this charming hotel and the 'tasting menu' for dinner, through a Travelzoo offer; and upgraded to a superior room. At the offer price our overnight stay was extemely good value (at the full price it possibly becomes a little expensive). The hotel has considerable character including some interestingly tight staircases to some rooms - including ours which was called 'Sycamore'. For an English hotel the room was quite large, as was the bed which was extremely confortable. The room was well furnished and facilities included a cafetiere and coffee bags and biscuits in an air-tight jar. The bathroom had a large double ended bath with separate shower. Interestingly, some taps opened clockwise and some anti-clockwise - all part of the character!

Food at dinner and breakfast was without fault and was effeciently but pleasantly served,

The hotel is just a few minutes walk to Sherborne's pleasant main shopping street and a very short drive from the attractive grounds of Sherborne castle.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are worth the extra £20.

We booked this through Travelzoo as a stay to include a "tasting menu". The hotel itself is located in a quiet area, and the owners have taken great care to ensure every element is to the highest standard. The food was supeb and the staff were friendly and professional. The room ( we upgraded ) was spacious and furnished beautifully, with one of the most comfortable beds one could wish for.
We extended our stay ,and in many hotels there is one area in which one sometimes feel there is room for improvement. With The Eastbury Hotel this was not the case and it is a credit to the owners and staff.

I have given the Eastbury a Very Good rating as to be fair it is a good hotel in an excellent location.

The staff we came across were very pleasant especially the receptionist and all the wait staff were excellent too.

We ate in the evening in the dining room although found this quite expensive. £9 for a crab starter which was literally a tablespoonful on a crab shell was not amusing nor was the main course of tiny piece of cod perched on not a lot of vegetables. Nicely presented but would have liked a bit more to eat.

We booked the Cowslip room which was a very pleasant de luxe room. Sad to say the matress was past its best and I made a complaint in the morning as our backs were feeling none too good. I was told that no one had complained before and two e mails to the owner who promised to get back to me. The Manager wanted to go into the room to see the matress but hadn't been able to as it was occupied.I have slept in many hotels and somehow I can tell if a matress is good quality!! 11 days on and I still haven't been contacted.

When I came to pay the bill it was discovered that items had been added that we hadn't had. I mentioned this to the owner so hopefully a system is in place for signatures to be required when using the bar etc. I did ask at the time to sign in the restaurant but said it wasn't necessary.

To sum up a very pleasant hotel with good staff but not sure that I would go back.

Room Tip: Our room was on the street side and was not noisy.
