“Gorgeous place to stay and eat”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

We stayed a couple of nights in La Fleur de Lys for our wedding anniversary. The staff were by welcoming and our room (Muscat) was very comfortable. Tasty home made biscuits with tea in our room. Breakfast was freshly cooked and there were comfy chairs to sit and read the paper and later to have a drink at the bar before dinner. The service is done with style, dining room beautifully presented with everything sparkling. The food was absolutely delicious - best we have had anywhere for a long time (and we are pretty experienced at eating !!) we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to stay or just to have a meal if you are fairly local.

“Good food limited menu”
Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

Enjoyed the setting and the service was excellent, although I appreciate that the restaurant is of small medium size the menu was a little restrictive for our liking. Enjoyed the evening with friends and would recommend to others to try.

Hello Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with us.

It was Good to hear you all had an enjoyable evening with us , We look forward to seeing you again in the future, We do increase the selection of our dishes throughout the year but do try & concentrate on quality & freshness so at this time of year when we are not quite as busy we do slightly shorten the menu.
Thank you for your comment regarding choice & will look at this in the future.
See you again soon
Best Wishes
David & Mary

“Lovely”
Reviewed February 7, 2014 via mobile

Have been to La Fleur de Lys on several occasions & never been disappointed, the food is to die for so well presented with lovely white linen which a lot of places seem to be replacing with cheap paper ones. Lovely warm fire at this time of the year with staff always friendly & helpful. All the food is lovely but my favourite part is the chocolate box for dessert well worth saving some room for. Only thing little disappointed in is the way some people go to a lovely place & turn up in tatty jeans & t shirt trainers etc, maybe a dress code but hey that's just us maybe. One of our top places to eat locally.

“Outstanding food and good rooms”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

The food at this restaurant was of the highest order in all respects. The basic ingredients, the accompaniments, the sauces. The combinations were unusual like venison with fresh figs, baby onions and raspberries in a port wine sauce, boned and roasted partridge with plums, ginger, spring onions and broad beans in a grain mustard sauce, scallops with red lentil puree, roasted cherry tomatoes and baby leeks in a tarragon dressing Unusual combinations that worked really well and laid out in an attractive way on the plate. But it did not finish there, the desserts were another set of unusual combinations like a hot strawberry souffle with white chocolate ice cream with a strawberry liqueur sauce or a dark chocolate box filled with pistachio ice cream served with a dark chocolate sauce and I could go on.There were another five desserts like this and an excellent cheese board. This was food heaven. And finally, the service was excellent, the house wine was good value for money and the rooms modern but a bit on the small side unless you go for a twin.

“Very civilised dining”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Well located very near the town centre, it has a very homely feel and is small enough to be intimate and peaceful. Service is sensitive and unobtrusive, and the menu and quality of food excellent.
