“A stylish renewal of a traditional town museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 28, 2013

Town Museums can be dry and full of dull cases of dusty exhibits. This one has been completely re-presented in a contemporary way. You see a real cross-section of life in Shaftesbury over the ages. The old buildings are now fully accessible for all. The garden is a treat in summer. Located at the top of Gold Hill it is easy to find.

“Tiny museum, lovely informative staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

This is a little rural museum with lots of folk artifacts. The building has a slightly municipal feel inside, but the staff are very interesting to talk to. There is also a beautifully planted garden outside, overlooking the edge of Gold Hill.

“Friendly, enthusiastic volunteer staff.”

Lovely, quaint museum. Lots of interesting bits and pieces with fantastic views from garden. Free entry but please do donate if you can as places like this are few and far between and the good ones heed a bit of help to keep going.

Well thought out FREE museum at Shaftesbury. Interesting, and if there is an award for this type of small attraction this should win.
