“Overnight stay”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

We found this little gem of a B& B in Saftesbury Dorset. The communication between the owner Tania Gay was very good prior to our visit. On arrival,( which was a little tricky as we arrived in the dark) we were warmly met by Tania, and shown into our delightful accommodation. It was a cold dark night in December and immediately we felt comfortable in the tastefully decorated, warm and cosy self contained accomodation. It consisted of a very good sized bedroom, with extra blankets, pillows, hot water bottles. very comfortable bed with immaculately clean, good quality bedding. Lovely separate bathroom with fluffy towels, again absolutely spotless. Separate private sittingroom furnished with sofa/bed, chair, TV, table with kettle, small fridge with milk for tea, biscuits, and we also had a treat of mince pies as it's Christmas time!
We were asked what time we would like breakfast, which was served in the main part of Tanias home, accessed through an interconnecting door in our the sitting room.
We had full English Breakfast, which consisted of, cereal, fruit juice, choice of Duck or Hens eggs which were free range from Tanias Ducks and Hens! Bacon, Sausage, Beans, Tomato ,Fried potato, Toast. Choice of Tea/Coffee. All in all a very good, beautifully served breakfast.
The surroundings, and views from the Paddocks are lovely, and apparently there are some lovely walks to be done from there.
The town of Shaftesbury is 'sleepy' on a Sunday with not much open, but weekdays a fairly thriving old town with the famous Gold Hill.
Thoroughly recommend the Paddocks, we'll be going back!!!

A warm welcome awaits you at The Paddocks. We were greeted on our arrival by the owner, Tania, who offered to help us in with our bags, very welcome after a long journey! The accommodation is spacious and extremely well presented. You get a double bedroom with great views over the rolling countryside, a private bathroom and a sitting room, fully equipped with TV, tea and coffee (and ground coffee!) making facilities, biscuits and a fridge. There is also a bed/settee - great if you have one or two small children or one slightly older child.

A full English breakfast was served in the dining room with a good selection of cereal, yoghurt and fresh and dried fruit and homemade preserves for the toast.

Tania was extremely friendly and accommodating, even asking us if we had any dietary requirements or food allergies we had not made her aware of when booking. She could even off us gluten and wheat free sausages!

It’s the little touches that make this such a nice place to stay either overnight or for a few days –from the fresh flowers in our bedroom when we arrived to the sight of her chickens and ducks ranging happily in the spacious garden as we ate our breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay and are sure you will too.
