“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2009

We spent two nights here as we wanted to visit Longleat. Our room was called 'Merlot'. It was very quiet , extremely clean with a lovely large and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was compact but the bath was lovely with lots of hot water. The toweling robes were a nice surprise. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food and service were excellent. The owners are charming.

I wish we had stayed more than one night in this lovely place. The room I had was spacious and comfortable with plasma TV & a laptop. The only problem was very bright lighting (put in for older people). The bathroom was very good - great power shower and large, soft, fluffy towels.
The public rooms are exquisitely furnished - large comfy sofas and little nooks where one can retreat to read. (I was delighted by the 'secret doorway'). The staff are very friendly yet professional and the food was brilliant. An excellent chef is always a great attraction. Shaftesbury is a lovely town that bears a few days exploration and the only place to stay is La Fleur de Lys.

We have just returned from a charming one night stay at La Fleur de Lys. Our room (Muscat) was beautifully clean and comfortable, and eqipped with a lap top and free internet access but more importantly home made shortbread and fresh milk!!

We dined in the restaurant which was wonderful. The staff were attentive and knowledgable and the food was delightful. And a good attention to detail . The wine menu was probably one of the longest I have seen, especially in a small market town hotel. The service throughout the whole stay was fabulous.

All in all we would thoroughly recommed this hotel and felt it was great value. Three course dinner with a couple of bottles of good wine plus the room came in at just over £200 which we felt for the quality was more than money well spent.

We can't wait to go back.

This establishment is well worth a visit. Excellent room, great food, confident, professional friendly staff and owners. I stayed there for one night but it would have been longer if I had more time. Faultless.

We stayed here for a wedding nearby and were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness, the professional staff, lovely food and really super rooms. There were three of us and we had two rooms, both pretty and comfortable. A nice touch was a small fridge with bottled water and fresh milk (so rare.. always seem to have UHT milk in hotels!) Breakfast was excellent and all staff friendly, helpful and polite.
The hotel is in a lovely position close to centre of town near to the steep street that appeared in the Hovis advert!!
Really lovely, beautiful countryside around and lots of things to see and do.
Highly recommended

I stayed at this hotel for one night during the start of June while in Shaftsbury on business.

It was great. I couldn't fault it at all. Good sized rooms, very modern, with the flat scren tv, laptop computer, great bathroom and great food.

The hotels location is good too, just a couple of minutes walk from the town centre.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. Would happily pay my own money to stay there.

Would definatley recommend it.

Its now called the Fleur de Lys Restaurant with rooms. The food is six star, with impeccable service and an excellent cellar. Comfortable bar lounge and lovely rooms all nicely refitted.
Cant wait to return!
