Best Western Shaftesbury The Royal Chase Hotel
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in Shaftesbury

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Longleat. Our first impressions were positive and the staff were a credit to the hotel. Kerry at reception was excellent. She telephoned our room, 10 minutes after we checked in, to check that we were happy with everything. The pool was lovely and warm and extra towels were provided. Breakfast was good and we ate in the hotel restaurant on one evening and our meal was very enjoyable. Our bathroom was a little dated but all in all we found this hotel to be very friendly and overall good value.

A really good hotel at a reasonable rate is hard to find, but The Royal Chase Hotel is just that. With a recently refurbished lobby area and some rooms also, it represents a good value for money homely hotel with friendly staff and great food.

Just finished reading through some of the more critical reviews on here and I have to say I am amazed. I just spent the night here for a family celebration and have to say it was excellent. The staff were superb; helpful, professional and very friendly.

The grounds are lovely. The rooms my inlaws and myself (with wife and 2 kids) stayed in were immaculate, of good size and decor with easy access to possibly the UK's warmest swimming pool!

The restaurant exceeded my expectations both the evening meal and breakfast were delicious, offering an excellent range of vegetarian options.

In all an excellent stay. Highly recommended....

We stayed at the Royal Chase for 2 nights whilst visiting Longleat & booked a family room. The decor in the foyer was beautiful...unfortunately which wasn't matched by our room, which was tired and dated. The plus points - the majority of staff were pleasant and helpful, the grounds are lovely - our 2.5 yr old loved running around & the food was swift in delivery. The shower was brilliant, the food less so. Breakfast was greasy (think this was the fried egg though) and inconsistent portions - on the first morning, we received 1 piece of bacon, sausage & egg each, the next day 2-3 pieces - result! Glasses were dirty, as were most of the bowls for breakfast. Overall, it wasn't a bad hotel, just not worth the £250 we paid in accommodation & dinner for one night. Also didn't receive a child's pack in the room like the other reviewer :) needs renovation throughout, including the menu.

Good heavens - this is just a terrible place - i am utterly amazed these kind of establishments still exist these days .... 'Old-fashioned' tat -hasn't seen any investment for decades - stuck in the 70's....
We arrived late - our original booked room located above the ballroom in which some party was in full swing - not only could you hear the music/ the entire room shook .... Fair enough the staff found us another room - yet they thought it was terribly funny .... We could still hear the music - but managed to sleep .... We skipped breakfast - as one look at the tinned fruit on offer was enough ... The staff was nice enough to offer a discount for the room debacle ... BUT i would rather sleep in the car than stay there again....

Dear Sapata

Truly disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay, which is apparent in your review.
I am sorry about this and I can speak on behalf of the entire team, we don't like to see unhappy guests. BEST WESTERN The Royal Chase provides great customer service. To say” Old fashioned Tat”, I feel is rather melodramatic to spice your review.
To say there has been no investment is simply not true; please see recent review below!
As for your comments regarding breakfast I can only assume you did not enter the restaurant as you would have found as well as the” tinned prunes“, fresh croissants and pastries, fresh fruit salad, fresh fruit, fruit juices, cereals, mixed berry compote, natural yoghurt and a freshly cooked breakfast to order if you had so desired.
We did offer you an alternative room to the one allocated which you viewed; it was an oversight on our part not to inform you of the disco, for which we apologised and consequently applied a discount to the rate which you gladly acknowledged and you made no further comments when asked at check out.

absolutly disgusting price value, far too expensive for what the offering is, totally incompetent hotel staff. Filthy Bathroom, old mattresses, smelly breakfast room, so we decided to skip breakfast and have a roll at Waitrose..... and so on....

conclusion, don`t go

Room Tip: do not go, rather go to another Hotel in Shaftesbury

I have no idea what must have triggered this nasty vindictive review. To clarify on a couple of your points ,My staff are fantastic and reviews and feedback support this whole heartedly,All of our rooms have recently had new beds and mattresses . I do wonder if you have in fact reviewed the correct hotel. We have tried to trace your booking and have not been able too! Perhaps you could email me directly at gm@theroyalchasehotel.co.uk with the dates you stayed and i can look into what has caused this review.

The third time we have stayed at The Royal Chase and we were just as happy there this time as our two previous stays.
The staff are all so friendly and happy it is real pleasure to talk to them, all of them. The rooms are not special, but they are clean and roomy. The breakfast is very good and we particularly like the pool area although they were having trouble with the steam room during our stay, not their fault. We like it so much we are going back again next year.
