Very friendly staff, good service. The food was freshly cooked, 2 of us had steak pie with veg, they both said the meat was very tender, well cooked and very rich gravy, excellent, the pastry was good but they wanted a bit more pastry!!! Starters were excellent, camembert bites were lovely. I had the fried tempura battered fish & chips, the batter was a bit soggy, it was too thick & cooked at too low temperature, was not thin & crispy as tempura should be, but certainly nice none the less. The chips were lovely and freshly cooked. We were too full for desserts as the meals were large. A great experience and will visit on a regular basis. Not had Sunday lunch yet but have seen the meals whilst having a drink and look fantastic, a very popular Pub for Sunday lunch. We visited 12th June 2013
