“Beautiful”
Reviewed September 1, 2014

The house itself is imposing and full of interesting artefacts and also has an art exhibition on the top floor. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable in both the house and the restaurant. The gardens are in little 'rooms' with a wildlife walk as an added bonus

“Day trip to Athelhampton House”
Reviewed August 30, 2014 via mobile

I visited the house and gardens with my wife. We both enjoyed looking round the house using the guide book provided free of charge. There is plenty to see and you are free to move round the house at your own pace. The gardens are delightful and are divided into a number of distinct areas each with its own plants of interest. We also tried the afternoon tea which I thought was good value for money. It was a wet afternoon so it was nice to have the use of an umbrella, provided by the house owners, for use around the gardens.

“Athelhampton - a lovely day out”
Reviewed August 29, 2014

We visited this little gem yesterday and were totally charemd. The house has a warm, friendly feeling when you walk through the door and the guides are freindly and approachable. The fact that the house is privately owned means that you can sit on the furniture, curtains are open and there was a fire in the grate adding to the lovely feeling of the house. There are lots of twisty staircases, nooks and crannies and a lovely library.
The gardens are pretty thought the ponds did needs some serious weeding and the numerous garden benches were peeling and badly in need of a repaint and the absence of a kitchen garden surprised us. All in all a very enjoyable day out and highly recommended though

“Visit enjoyed by all”
Reviewed August 26, 2014

We visited on Sunday 24th Aug. The guide/steward was very helpful and informative and we were made to feel very welcome. Thank you. Beautiful house with lots to see and enjoy. Very old staircases, nooks and crannies and more rooms to see than expected. The gardens are a gem. Well maintained with surprises around each corner. We were offered a free loan of a guide book during our visit which we returned upon leaving. Great idea and nice touch. Well worth a visit .... even my two teens enjoyed!
