I visited this place for the first time over the weekend with my partner (who has visited several times before). I was really impressed with all aspects. The food was possibly the best restaurant food I have ever tasted. The chef (who I believe has Michelin stars) really knows how to expertly marry together flavours to create culinary masterpieces.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming...and I shall definitely be returning again in the future with (what will then be) my wife.

This place offers real luxury at very reasonable prices. Living in London I don't know anywhere which offers such quality of food, service and decor at less than 3 figures....and I've eaten in a lot of London restaurants!

This place is a real success story and it's reputation is such that the place is (from what I can gather) always busy and there is a need to book up plenty of time in advance if you want to secure accomodation or a good meal...and not face dissapointment.

Well done to Ariane and Jamie. I loved it!

I cannot quite put my finger on it but there was just something missing here that would have justified the fairly high price paid for an overnight stay. The room, with a wonderful view, was just a tad cramped, the service just a tad stand offish, the bathroom a little chintzy. Nothing major, just little niggles that would not make me rush back. The food was excellent, well proportioned and delightful but...

Stayed for 2 nights with our toddler. Booked into the restaurant for the first night & were so impressed with food that we went again on second night. Very helpful, friendly kind owners - who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Restaurant was full each night. Room was neat & has all you want, bathroom was ok. Breakfast was great too. Very convenient for visiting Dorchester. Nice to find a toddler friendly B&B - as some I checked did not accept children at all. Based on our observation a lot of guests were returning for repeat visits - so I think that speaks volumes.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The staff are extremely friendly from the moment you arrive and nothing was any trouble. It was my partner's birthday whilst we were there and I asked Ariane to arrange some flowers which were beautiful. Dining here is a real treat the food is superb, great flavours and plentiful with lots of local produce. The wine list is excellent and after that if you still have enough room for cheese (don't miss out on the Blue Vinney) followed by sumptuous dessert then you'll now you've had a fine meal! Breakfast is equally as fine. Definately a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and one of Dorset's best kept secrets tucked away in the sleepy countryside. Well worth a stay!

I only dined at the YC and so can't comment on the hotel facilities but it was average. Perhaps I was expecting too much from the very positive reviews but, whilst it was quite acceptable, the food certainly wasn't marvellous. Nicely presented yes with a noteworthy use of local produce, but just unfortunately lacking in the flavour you should expect. I'm not a large portion fan by any means but the portions were small and this added to the disappointment. Cramped table and we waited a long time for our original drinks order to be taken. Service was friendly, but mediocre.
Whilst pleasant enough, I couldn't help feeling disappointed and we received very poor value for money. Living nearby I was hoping to find a gem that I would return to frequently for guaranteed dining pleasure - unfortunately it was not to be.
