Stayed here for just one night, so cannot comment on too much as we were just wanting a bed for the night.
The room was nice although a little small had everything you would need, although we couldn't get the WiFi to work. The bathroom was small but again had nice quality towels and little sachets of shampoo etc.
It being a Saturday night we could hear the band playing in the pub a few doors up but luckily they finished by midnight.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely with good choices and food cooked well, although the room was quite cold. Friendly staff and not too intrusive.
Overall it was a nice stay but felt at £99 it was slightly overpriced for what it was.

We always book a weekend away at this time of year as a time to catch up with our siblings and remember our dear departed Mum, so this year we chose Dorchester and the Casterbridge hotel for 2 nights. We booked 5 double rooms for the 10 of us and had a lovely stay. Some of us were in the rooms in the older part, one even had a 4-poster bed, and one couple had a room in the newer part in the garden area. All the rooms were very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and efficient and there was lots of choice, plentry of fresh fruit, cereals and you could order just what you wanted from the cooked breakfast menu. The best bit for us; we were able to use the lounge for our pre and post dinner chats and drinks (take your own and they lend you glasses and even wash them up for you!) - it was like home from home. We were made to feel most welcome at all times.

We stayed at the hotel mid-week with a group of friends so managed to see two other rooms in addition to our own. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the high street. We had previously seen other trip advisor comments that said these rooms suffered from traffic noise so we were a bit aprehensive when we discovered we were at the front but the windows had secondary double glazing so we were not disturbed by the traffic. The room was a good size, warm and bright and as part of the original building had some character. Two of our friends were at the back of the hotel in a more recently built section and modern design, they were on the ground floor and had a small outside sitting area and although far from the traffic they could hear people in adjacent rooms quite clearly. The hotel was very central to our needs but the private parking facility was about 3 or 4 minutes walk so we were glad we did not have too many bags.

Room Tip: If you are average height then the rooms at the front are really nice but doorways are low so if you...

The Casterbridge is very clean and comfortable, staff extremely helpful and service was first class. We had a double room at the front of the hotel and the noise from traffic was quite loud.
Even more noise from the seagulls but there is not an awful lot that can be done about either.
The cost of our stay for one night was £150 which we felt was expensive but we were in town for a
wedding and needed somewhere central to stay, so I guess this is what you have to pay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel so to miss the traffic noise

We have stayed at The Casterbridge before a number of times but this was our first visit under the new ownership. We were very pleased to find that the standards have not dropped. We were warmly welcomed and had a spacious double room in the main building. The room was clean and comfortable. We had no problems with the shower nor a lack of hot water. The staff were, as usual, polite, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was as good as ever - with a wide choice which should suit all tatstes. Extra coffee and toast were provided without any fuss.

Room Tip: Call and discuss. Rooms in the annex are the quietest but rooms in the main building are better prop...

Totally concur with the review written in June last year. We stayed for two nights and had one of the family rooms in the annexe. On the plus side, the annexe rooms are quiet; the breakfast was excellent (particularly liked the variety of fruits and berries) with a pleasant conservatory, and the staff and owners are very welcoming. However, the place feels tired, the reception room is dull and in the room our shower was just a dribble. The parking situation has already been accurately described in other reviews and is difficult, and try finding an evening meal on a Sunday night in the area!

Made to feel welcome on arrival. My single bedroom was clean and comfortable. Had a good night's sleep, but awoke to no hot water in bathroom. My son's bedroom he described as tired. Milk out of date on complimentary tray.
Breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh fruit salad and berries. The waitresses were extremely polite and helpful.
I was surprised I was not given a discount for the lack of hot water. Lack of nearby parking makes it difficult for travellers with poor mobility
