In Dorchester, looking for somewhere for lunch, we came across Shelley's Plaice and thought it would be more interesting than pizza at a nearby Italian. It was! I have since read other people's reviews and I agree that 'quirky' and 'eccentric' are good words to describe this eatery. It's like actually being in the kitchen (open along one side of the restaurant) with Shelly as she cooks, sings along to the 50's songs playing, and chats to people. My partner and I had hake and fried potatoes and our companion had brown crab on toast with salad garnish. The food was excellent but we had a long wait for our food and the restaurant was not full. Shelley was doing all the cooking on her own. We were not warned that there would be a wait and no apology was offered when the food was served but it was entertaining to watch Shelley cooking so we didn't mind the wait too much.
I would recommend this restaurant to all lovers of fish, who enjoy an unusual eating experience but allow plenty of time.
