“A hidden gem - a relaxing rural retreat in beautiful Dorset”
Reviewed June 26, 2010

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Frog Hall and have already considered when we can return. As a party of six adults, we hired the entire hall for ourselves as a self catering unit (it was more than adequate and sleeps 12 in three bedrooms - 3 doubles, two rooms have a mezzanine with twin beds and one room has bunk beds just off the main bedroom).
We had a fabulous time, the decor throughout was lovely, beds were comfortable, kitchen well equipped, lots and lots of living space - absolutely no faults to mention. The outdoor areas were brilliant too, especially the garden for dining outside, evening games, etc. The farm is situated in rolling hills, beautiful countryside and is in really easy reach of all the areas attractions/amenities (by car!) I cannot recommend it enough - it was a total getaway.

Best bits: location, tranquility, size/living area, decor/comfort throughout, croquet set to use! free wifi

Worst bits: none apart from packing up and coming home

We had our second stay at Frogmore Farm, it was a part of a Christmas gift from my husband to incorporat a visit to HughFearnley Whittingstalls restaurant in Axminster. Rosemary is lovely, a perfect hostess. We stayed in the Dairymaids cottage this time and will do so again. It's maybe not as 'posh' as the suites in Frog Hall but the quiet and privacy more than made up for that. Lovely log burner in the small lounge, really comfy bed, great breakfasts, lovely local pubs for evening meals, what more could you want. We will certainly be going back. Love it there, a little piece of heaven on earth. Thanks Rosemary. xx

Just one night at Frog Hall in one of the three bedroom suites, but we would love to come back.
The room is suitable for four, with a double downstairs and two singles up a stair/ladder to a sort of mezzanine - sounds odd but works really well. Private en-suite facility as well.
The lounge and kitchen area are available for the various occupants of the rooms to use, and as the lounge/dining area is VERY sizeable, you can really spread out.
As other users comment, the breakfasts are the thing: Rosemary and her husband make fantastic hosts, and deliver a sumptuous spread - great cereals, home-made breads, full and excellent cooked meal including the yellowest eggs you'll ever see, and generally a great start to the day.
We were blessed with great weather for March, so opening the patio door from the bedroom onto a quiet hillside scene is a lovely experience (then followed by the super breakfast), but I imagine at any time of year this would be a real haven.
Outstanding local walking, and within ten miles of Dorset/Jurassic coastline.
Oh, and the local pubs Rosemary points you towards are excellent choices - our family of three ate cheaply yet superbly at a local inn the night of arrival, with distinctly superior quality (super shin of beef in a rich sauce)
Lovely....one of the best
