Having just returned from a national holiday 5 day stay at the Liston Hotel, we have told our friends about the whole experience and high comments regarding the hotel. Having read some of the comments we were a little apprehensive but there was no need for any doubts. Diane and her team were impecable and nothing was too much. The meals (Gilbeys) had a great 3 course choice menu for both breakfast and dinner. The bar opened from 5:30pm, the staff ensured everyone was served promptly. The evening entertainment was good, everyone sang along to the songs. The room was spotless, bathroom had over shower and hot water without having to wait for it to come through...tea/coffee sachets were refilled everyday. The garden is a great place to relax in-the seat and table at the top of the garden steps is a great place to sit and pass away the time - in between the showers lol - Just need to say thankyou again and had a great relaxing break.

Room Tip: listening to other guests all rooms are great

My wife and I recently returned from a 5 day national coach holiday staying at this hotel, the weather was atrocious which neither the hotel or national holidays could be held responsible for, despite this we had a very enjoyable break,Our room for which we paid extra was a luxury twin(it actually contained a large double and a single)was spotllessly clean, with wall mounted flat screen tv,small fridge and a modern walk in shower room. There was choice of menu for breakfast and dinner, the quality of food was good, well cooked and presented and served in adequate portions. There was evening entertainment on 3 evenings which was well suited to the age group of the coach party. Our only negative comment would be that the location of the hotel was just a little too far from boscombe town centre and the local bus services during inclement weather. This review would not be complete without mentioning our coach driver whos name was RON and without any doubt was the star of the show, very good local knowledge, polite, very funny, and above all a good and safe driver, well done ron,we were delighted to be part of your HAPPY COACH as you called it,and you were not wrong, keep up the good work. Many thanks to all the staff at the hotel for a very enjoyable break.jds

We stayed for only one night (travelled up for a gig) and don't have a bad word to say about the place! Despite the 80's asthetic the room we had was incredibly modern, had a lovely balcony and was spotless. The bed and pillows were very comfy, the tea making facilities more than adequate, and the bathroom had a well rounded contemporary finish. It's obvious that some of the rooms have been recently upgraded, perhaps explaining some of the not so positive reviews left! Our friends had a slightly less modern room but still found the hotel and its staff fantastic.
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast staff, and despite the early hour (and the morning-after roughness of our gig attending group) smiled, cracked jokes and were fantastic.
We will definitely visit again, for longer, and would recommend to anyone looking for a decent, quality and affordable hotel within the Bournemouth area.

We stayed in a double room, for one night, did not sleep very well at all, the bed was rock hard and so were the pillows, the only room that was great was the bathroom as it is up to date, the bedroom needs updating as it is very old, the room could have also done with a fridge , the staff are friendly, and the function room is nice, the bar was very very small, also it takes the mick abit when the music got asked to be turned right down and we could barely hear the music, when it's been paid for. Wouldn't have wanted to stay another night due to how uncomfortable we were.

Management response:Responded July 8, 2012

Hi Shakedown 1992 I have sent you two private messages to try and ascertain which room
you stayed in. I think you were in room 30 but this room has been refurbished with a new
double glazed window, new carpet and curtains, repainted and a new shower room it certainly is not very old room as this has only been done a few months. It has a new bed and pillows
you can see this room on our web site image 14. We cannot guarantee a fridge unless it is one of our superior rooms. However had you asked for a fridge we do have them available at no extra charge.
Our bar may be small but we have very fast bar staff and the fact it is small means they do not
have to walk along the bar and people get served really really quickly.
I did ask the girl DJ if she would mind turning the music down a little and she went from
one extreme to the other. When I spoke to her I said if she could keep the volume down
from 11 to 12 but she said she was finishing around 11 anyway so I did not have an issue
with the sound level. I did stress I fully expected her to play until midnight but she was the one
who wanted to finish.

We had booked for the weekend as we were attanding a function on the Friday evening at the Hotel and had decided to make a weekend out of it and re visit some parts of Dorset around Purbeck.
We had Room 20 which is very large and very comfortable, and had plenty of wardrobe and drawer space unlike many modern hotels. hairdryer, ironing board and umbrella all provided.
Breakfast was agreed at a time to suit us and was very good; the food at the function on the Friday was also very good.
Staff were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: You need a local map or sat nav to find the hotel; it is close to the beach but not too close.

We have been coming to the Liston for about 18 years, we have watched it evolve from a bed and breakfast to a smart hotel.
Staff are friendly and always try and accomodate us when we ring at short notice!!

The rooms are modern, spacious and comfortable with modern bathrooms and very comfortable beds, breakfasts are good with cereals, fruit, cooked and toast,

Whilst the weather isn't always kind to us, last time we wore winter coats to walk along the front. We alwys looks forward to returning; shame they ruined the beach at Boscome, but that is not the Listons's fault

Room Tip: Be nice to the person you speak to when you book!!!

I found the staff and hotel to be pleasant and friendly. The room I stayed in exceeded my expectations, the food was nice and owner seemed very pleasant to me and thought she went above and beyond to meet my needs. Thank you Ms. Diane.

Room Tip: I'm not sure if all of the rooms are newly renovated but i stayed on the 3rd floor and the room...
