This Summer , as always , we had a great holiday staying at Fenn Lodge in the care of Sandy and Bruce.
Beautifully clean and attractive rooms and excellent food , all home cooked.
Then , of course , the wildlife and especially the badgers, always a joy to watch.
Thank you

Lesley and Paul

Sandy & Bruce gave us a very warm welcome and were very accomodating. Taking the trouble to email us before hand to see if we had any specific dietary requirements, which we did for our 2 year old daughter and they got in what we asked for. Very nice room, clean, comfortable beds. Very hospitable at breakfast, a good range to choose from and was cooked well. All in all family friendly and very good value for money. Would rate 5 if our bathroom had been bigger and had a bath as was not as easy with a small shower room only, with a small child. Tthe time you had to have breakfast for families could be a little more flexible. Despite those minor points would recomend and would stay again. Sandy & bruce are a lovely couple and make every effort to make your stay enjoyable

Fenn Lodge was a welcome return to the B&B scene for us habitual hotel frequenters. From our initial email contact, Sandy’s warmth and personality were evident and we were welcomed into her home with a broad smile and a greeting by name. Tea or coffee was immediately offered, we accepted enthusiastically, it arrived promptly. Our room was immaculately clean and bright, fully equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. Breakfast menu was comprehensive and varied, something for everyone. I loved the cherry loaf with yoghurt and granola, while my husband didn’t leave a scrap of kipper or poached egg, served with homemade bread, toasted. Offers of toast and coffee top ups were frequent. Everything was delicious. Before our departure Sandy spent a considerable amount of her valuable time, given the busy time of day for her outlining some of the many options to spend a wet day and impressed us with a broad knowledge of the greater area and its amenities. Reasonable rates, excellent location and wonderful host and hostess, we left regretfully. We do not hesitate to strongly recommend Fenn Lodge.

WOW.... as a guy who has spent his entire working career either staying in hotels or working in them I can only say is that Sandy and Bruce have, in the 12 years they have been operating the Fenn Lodge, have mastered the rudiments of the hospitality industry!
One of the most welcoming welcomes! A room that rates 5 stars... amazing Egyptian cotton sheets, a wonderfully large (compared to every other B&B we've been in) bathroom. A wonderful touch was the pettipointed welcome mat. The in-room wifi was awesome and the beds were probably the best we've slept in on our 3 weeks on our 'explore' of the south coast of England.
I feel sorry for those visiting Bournemouth during October thru April as they close for the winter so you won't be able to stay with them!

Room Tip: Every room looked wonderful.

We so enjoyed our stay at Fenn Lodge.Bruce and Sandy were kind and courteous. We chatted about bygone African days.We were truly sad to leave. They felt like family to us.
Lovely room overlooking terraced garden. ' Wildlife watch ' in the evening. Short walk to beach through woods. So wonderful !
Good breakfast choice, loved the homemade bread.
Simply furnished, neat, clean room. More than adequate. We hope to return next year. Thank you , Bruce and Sandy.

Room Tip: Room 11, lovely view of garden and wildlife.

The Fenn Lodge has been our favourite place to stay for years. The smile of owners Sandy and Bruce at our arrival is such a wonderfully warm welcome every time. The rooms are very clean and lovingly decorated with carefully chosen accessories and every room has its particular colours and theme. But this is not the only area in which the owners show great love and care. The rooms are equipped with lists in which one can check off the wildlife one has observed in the garden: badgers and foxes (which are fed by Sandy) and squirrels as well as various birds are regular guests to the Fenn Lodge garden. The same attention goes into the fabulous breakfasts which are also prepared by the owners themselves. Home-made bread as well as a variety of breakfasts to choose from (including full English breakfast, a fish breakfast, or to give you a healthy head-start, Sandy’s special health breakfast) with juices, cereals and plenty of toast to start with, make lunch optional on a lovely day out. The location of the Fenn Lodge is a further plus. Located on Alum Chine, the walk down the lovely chine to one of Bournemouth’s beautiful beaches will take just minutes. The town-centres of both Bournemouth and Poole can be reached by car and by public transport (catch the 2b or 2c from Alumhurst Road) and the lovely village of Westbourne is within walking distance. There are plenty of opportunities for brilliant days out around the Fenn Lodge and Sandy and Bruce will be very happy to give some advice on places to go and on places to eat. We have enjoyed our stay tremendously and will be back next year!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the garden - you will hear nothing but the chatter of the birds in the morning...
