“Best hotel in Bournemouth”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

Currently staying at The Newbury Hotel and I personally can't rate the place higher. Vicki the proprietress is fantastic- you couldn't ask for better service, she guides you where the best places are to go, what restaurants to go to and ones to avoid and the attention to detail is spot on. You cant fault the rooms as all you needs are catered for.If you want a prime position to the beach as well as night life which is local or just a great weekend away, you wouldn't be disappointed with this fantastic place.

Hi Dawn,
A very big "thanks" for the glowing review and very kind of you to think of the Newbury as the best in Bournemouth. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome you and your delightful family. So pleased that you all enjoyed yourselves, we were sorry to see you leave. Glad that I could be of some service, with tips on where to go etc.
Hope to see you in the near future and remember, for the best price, phone direct and ask for me!

Best wishes to you all (especially your delightful grandson, he's a cutie!)

Vicki.

Having already stayed at the Newbury before, we recently got married and decided to rebook for a week. On our return we found the hotel had been modernised even more with a nice contemporary feel. The room was spacious and cosy and had all the things we needed. Vicki was a star and nothing was ever a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the worst bit of our trip was having to leave. We highly recommend this hotel and will definately only ever stay there if we return to bournemouth. Thanks to everyone at the Newbury for making our special time more special.

Room Tip: Book in advance as there was no rooms available when we were down there.

Hi Pete & Charlene, So glad that you enjoyed your stay with us on your honeymoon, hopefully we have contributed a little towards your memories! You will never guess? we have a couple staying at the moment, who last stayed here 28 years ago, when they first got married and have not been back to Bournemouth since. They had decided to take a walk down memory lane! We put a card and some chocolates in the room and they were over the moon!
Anyway it was an absolute pleasure to welcome you to the Newbury again and hope to see you in the near future (please don't leave it 28 years though!).

Best regards

Vicki.

I liked the hotel, the room, the placing. I do think, after talking to the personel, etc. What i do not like is the feeling i got that the hotel focuses on getting as much money as possible from every guest. Adding this and that to the bill. Like "cleaning fee", and "card fee" that makes it more expensive not to pay cash. All on top of the charge beeing said as total from booking.com.

All in all, i recommend the hotel, but i think they get 3 instead of 4 for that money-focus.

If you book via bookingsite, be sure to get "that" price. This is my advice.

Dear Mr Red,
Many thanks for writing your review, I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay, this shows that we are "getting it right". Your are not quite correct in your assumption that we are focused on trying to get as much money as possible, our main focus is to make sure that all of our guests are comfortable, well looked after and get value for money. That said, we are a business and if we did not operate as such, would soon go bankrupt. I have managed to keep the same tariff, with zero increases for over three years, this is despite the fact that all services and outgoings have risen.
I am acutely aware that in the present economic climate most of our guests have to watch their finances very carefully and I have tried to keep the tariffs down accordingly. It is true that we have a single night supplement, also that there is a charge for paying by card. The reason for this being that we are charged. If you want to use this service then you must pay to do so. It is hardly fair to expect other guests that do not use this service to subsidise you, that would not be fair. These charges are made clear, at the time of booking. If, as in your case, you decide to use a booking company, all of this information is made available to you, then you can make an informed choice. If you do not want to be charged for paying by card, pay cash, problem solved.
You have also overlooked the fact that we still do not charge for Car Park, W.I.F.I. etc or add on VAT, as many establishments do, but have included these and many other "perks" that you have failed to mention, into the tariff charged, not "Added To" afterwards.
So please in future, where ever you book, please take a few minutes to check through the details, to make sure that you are properly informed.

Best regards

Vicki.

Just got back from a lovely weekend in Bournemouth. We had a pleasant stay at the Newbury Hotel, it was very welcoming, clean and good standard rooms. I would definitely return. It is in a perfect location close to everything. Only down side was that i lost one flip flop in the room somewhere and the first night was not a good nights sleep as it was so hot and stuffy that we couldnt sleep. Thankfully the second night was better but it was a hot weekend!!

Hi to you both, good to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Sorry that you were hot in your room, I think we were all in the same boat, after all it was the hottest day we have had in seven years!!! Still your tans should more that make up for that. Don't know what happened to your flip-flop??? If you haven't found it in your suitcase somewhere? the only thing that I can think is that you put it in with your rubbish, by mistake, or left it on the beach. I have been keeping my eye out for a one legged thief flopping (hopping) down the road, bust as of yet, no luck!!!

Best wishes to you both, hope to see you again soon.

Myself and my husband stayed here last weekend for my birthday and enjoyed every minute of it!
We arrived on time of checking in and was pleased to find allocated parking, and was greeted by a lovely lady called Vicki, who was very welcoming and show us to our room which was very cosy and quiet, with pretty decor.
Also to my surprise i received a birthday card and a small tray of chocolates from Vicki and the Newbury hotel, i thought this was very sweet and made the stay even more enjoyable! ;)
The rooms was very clean and nice and quiet during the night, (other hotels on st micheal s road that we have stayed at have not been so quiet and accommodating!!)
Breakfast was not served in the premises but we was given the option to buy a breakfast voucher to eat over the road at the shamrocks for a fry up which was no hassle at all!
Perfect location for the beach and other amenities and very good rates.
I am finally pleased to say we have found a perfect little stay for when we next visit Bournemouth and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting soon.
Once again i have stayed at a few hotels on the St Michaels road and by far the Newbury hotel beats them all hands down.
Looking forward to my next stay at the Newbury :)

Hi Gina, very pleased that we were able to make your birthday treat an enjoyable one, if I know that it is a guests birthday, we always try to do a little something. Great that you thought that the Newbury was a "perfect stay", this tells me that we are getting things right.
An absolute pleasure meeting yourself and your husband and look forward to seeing you both again when you are next in Bournemouth.
Best regards
Vicki.

We stayed for 3 nights. Our double en suite was bright and airy. Although our room faced the road, we were not disturbed by any noise. The room was immaculate and the bathroom was very clean. We were given clean fluffy towels everyday and the room was cleaned on a daily basis. We had free view TV and tea and coffee facilities. The hotel is only 7 mins walking distance to the beach. There is also lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The town centre is also walking distance. Vicky, the owner and her staff were very welcoming. Vicky was very helpful and made our stay pleasant and enjoyable. Breakfast was provided at a subsidised rate at the Shamrock which was a stones throw from the hotel. It filled us up way past lunch time. We certainly will return this delightful hotel again. Jasmine & Danny

Room Tip: We had room 3. Excellent

Myself and 2 friends stayed here for a weekend in July 2013.

From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome, the hotel was located close to the beach and local nightlife so we had the best of both worlds.

The hotel itself was clean and tidy, it had all the facilities we needed. For the price we received free parking which was a bonus. The hotel never provided a breakfast but we had the offer to buy a breakfast voucher for a local restaurant at a reasonable price.

We could not fault the hotel and would stop here again.
