“Wonderful location pity about the tired room”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Just back from a weekend stay at the Wood Lodge. We were a family of three and booked a family room with a double bed and a single bed (room number 3). On first appearances we were very impressed with the building and lovely garden. However on viewing our room we were very disappointed. It was a back room with locked windows so were unable to open them on the hottest day of the year. We had a very small shower room with toilet which in my opinion needed a face lift, and was also full of mould around the window. The beds were so old we all suffered from back ache the next morning and unfortunately we had two nights there. We did not participate in breakfast so I cannot comment on the food quality. Would I return again, no. Save your money.

We had a wonderful stay at the Wood Lodge. The bedroom was large, spacious and clean with and en-suite shower room.

The dining room overlooks the beautiful back garden and the 2 lounge rooms overlook the front garden.

We were made to feel very welcome, excellent service and would not hesitate to stay there again.

I stayed in the Wood Lodge while at a wedding in Bournemouth and I could not have been any happier with the room, service or facilities. The owners were great, very friendly and welcoming, looked after everything I needed. The room was comfortable, I slept well, and the bath! Ohhhhh the bath. Over 6 feet long and deep. Ahhhhhhhhh! Just what I needed with sore feet! Highly highly highly recommend it, especially if you are a girl travelling alone. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bournemouth. And the rate was amazing - £25. Unbelievably good.

Room Tip: I was in room 5 upstairs which was fine.

We broke our journey to Cornwall from Kent and had a one night break at this hotel. Booking on line you never know exactly what your going to get but this is a little jem. Not a modern hotel, but very comfortable. Just a stones throw from the beautiful seafront you can be sure of a good nights sleep tucked up in Egytian linin and soft pillows in a room where the radiators all work, the shower is clean and there are good tea/coffee making facilities. Your only a walking distance around the corner if you wish to go out and eat, plenty of good quality restaurants in all price ranges locally. A nice lounge, a TV room with pool table and a small bar if you want an inhouse drink at reasonable prices all overseen by a caring owner. Quiet setting, parking on site.
Highly recommend.

We spent 3 days last week and had a very comfortable and enjoyable time. We were in Bournemouth visiting elderly parents and Rob. (the owner) went out of his way to make a pot of afternoon tea when we brought them there to visit. The gardens and lounges are very comfortable and you feel you can sit anywhere without feeling in the way. Guests were very friendly obviously joining in with the atmosphere. We had 3 evening meals whilst there- good plain English cooking which we found to be just right- rather on the expensive side though!. Breakfasts were amazing- each dish individually cooked and as much as you wanted.

Would have received 5 stars but for 1 thing. The bathroom was very dated and the shower (although usable) was in need of urgent replacement.

Overall - a high recommend and we will certainly be staying there again.

Room Tip: Ask about the shower.

Booked for three nights in a single room with a bathroom across the landing all to myself, massive bath!! Great breakfast, good selection. Small bar but large Lounge & a separate TV room with pool table. The Hotel is a beautiful old house with lovely gardens. Will stay again if in the area.
