Cheap and cheerful. Was a bit stressful when we arrived as they had a meeting taking place in the function room which meant there was no parking. But staff were friendly and room was basic but clean. Very cheap, just what we needed for a few nights! I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is a little dated but overall id say average and adequate, the rooms vary in size and the singles are a bit cramped but en-suite, some have 3/4 beds which is better.
The suites are ok with twin sinks and the breakfast room and restaurant is quite good serving a buffet breakfast which is of good quality.
I say that the food is good value and the staff are friendly and helpful however the parking is dire! there is a small car park which gets full very quickly, there is parking outside but it starts at 8am so you can expect to be up early!

I travel alot in my line of work and hobby and id say this hotel will suit you if your not after guilt and glitter, i have stayed here many many times and can say that the food is good value and the beer is cheap, ive drunk loads here!
Its close to the town center and far enough away, the beech is via a cliff!
I also travel as my hobby/pass time of which is checking out paranormal or un-explained events ( www.facebook/southcoastghosts ) and id happy stay here again.

From check in chaos, to no children's meal to flooding bathrooms, it's a typical Britannia!
On arrival we were given our key card, got to "our" door, key card doesn't work, back down to reception..... Join a queue of other people who are in the same situation, key card fixed, back upstairs key card works..... Yay!? No! It was a room that was already taken, back down to reception again, explained that this room was taken, was asked "are you sure" yep the clothes and suitcases in the room were a huge clue
Finally in the right room ( I use the term right loosely) we had a family room, no bed for our daughter though, easily fixed by housekeeping, oh yes they brought in a rather rickety camp bed, she announced " there is no room, where shall I put it" I was tempted to tell her! The bed was then plonked in front of the window, moved again by us later as there was no way to get to turn tv on or off while bed was there, I shall mention the tv again shortly, new position of the bed meant we had to shimmy past it, as the room was no where near big enough for extra bed, the bed also had some lovely grey blankets straight out of the nearest HMP I think
The tv.... No power button just a hole where it used to be, quality! Limited channels
We then went for evening meal, usual buffet set up, asked if we could order a child's meal, we were told a resounding no, chef doesn't do children's meals, cue lots of children with the "I don't like it" chorus, to be fair the food was nice but nothing a child would like
If you fancy a swim it will cost you a fortune £6 per adult per visit, but on the first night we made our own pool in the bathroom, the shower overflowed a lot, apologies to the room beneath if it started raining on you
Then the hair dryer blew up!!!
Although these issues were fixed quickly

The 2 lifts only take 2 people at a time, there will be queues!
The wifi is good and free, not too slow either
The bed was comfy (ours not the camp bed)
All in all you are best going here not expecting much then you won't feel completely disappointed

Stayed in the Britannia over the weekend 9-11 August for a break for myself, partner and six year old. Made the mistake of reading the reviews after booking and worried that I was going to be taking my family to such a bad place. Arrived to friendly staff and a good sized room with even a sea view. The room could have done with some new decor but wasn't planning on spending much time there. Enjoyed the fry ups in the morning and the evening meal filled a hole, had two decent nights sleep, the beach was close and even had a bottle of bubbly as a part of package. Bad points are the parking but you could always use the roundhouse hotel 100yards away for secure parking, oh and don't bother with the pool. Overall a happy weekend, great town, average hotel.

Stayed here with a hen party (all mature and sensible)! I shared a large room overlooking the entrance on the second floor. The bed was comfortable and bathroom adequate for two nights. We had dinner on the first night as we were on a DBB tarif - school dinners spring to mind and one of the desserts was still frozen - we declined dinner on the second night and bought fish and chips. Breakfast was fatty bacon and sausage and there was a constant queue for fried eggs. As one previous reviewer said it was like being in a foreign hotel as no-one could understand you. When we came to pack on the final morning we found our shoes etc. in the bottom of the wardrobe wet as there was water running down the back of the wardrobe presumably from the bathroom above. Difficult to park and if you do get a space it is £3 a day the same as parking on the road. Didn't have a swim as refuse to pay as a resident of the hotel. We had a good weekend as we made our own entertainment and were able to laugh at the shortcomings such as two being locked out of their bathroom and maintenance using a biro to free it and then told not to shut the door! Alright for hen and stag dos but I would be very disappointed if brought here on a coach holiday.

This hotel has had awful reviews and do themselves no favours charging for the pool and car park. Bottom line is this was the cheapest place to stay that catered for a mid-sized group and for the price it was fine, not the Ritz but comfy enough. We paid £40 a night (sharing twin room) I would say that if they are charging much more than that, look elsewhere.
