Party of 8 women 60+ - Rooms were (fairly) basic but very clean, bathroom was full size with opening window and a full choice of shampoo, gel etc. - towels replaced daily as were any used products, there was even hair dryer in dressing table drawer. Each room was cleaned and tidied every day. Many of the staff were foreign but all seemed to have an adequate command of English and were very helpful. When we asked if we could have table for 8 instead of 2x4 it was organised immediately and 'reserved' placed there for the rest of our stay.
The food was excellent, plenty of choice at breakfast and again at dinner - and as much as you wanted. The wine was cheap (for hotel prices) especially if you took account of the 'buy 3 get 1 free' offer.
Hotel is well sited, 1 minute waik from sea front, 5 minutes from Bournemouth pier.
For the money we paid we cannot fault it - we had read the reviews and were a bit worried, but no need, 12 out of 10 for value for money!!!!!!!!

The room was clean, but basic, everything worked. The room had a view over the ventilation system, but it was quiet with no nasty smells. The room was very hot, but I was cold, so that was a bonus! The bathroom didn't have any mould, the Spa did! Would go again, as there was plenty of free parking, and it wasn't too far to walk to the beach or the shops.

I was a bit put off by some of the reviews, but was only staying for one night with my 3 year old daughter as we could not get into the queens hotel over the road where my parents and their friends were staying for a long weekend. We arrived and checked in early, had no trouble parking, and the reception staff were very friendly. There was another couple who had complained about their room and had been moved and the lady was really quite unpleasant to the reception staff, but the receptionist kept smiling and was very polite. Our room was clean, a good size and was dated and basic, however lots of storage space, a decent sized tv with some kids channels (much to my little girls delight) and we had a newly refurbished bathroom with a fabulous power shower. Lovely fluffy bath robes and hand towels and toiletries in the room.

The breakfast was lovely with a good choice and the restaurant staff were very pleasant. We ate in the hotel in the evening ( buffet style) and for mass produced hotel food I was actually very impressed. I am used to cruising with Cunard so do have high expectations from a holiday and was prepared to be disappointed, however I wasn't.

For £55 for a double room with breakfast, I cannot fault this place. The location is perfect up on the east cliff.

The only disappointment was that the pool would have cost us £6.00 to use and was not included in the price of our stay. However we used the pool over the road where my parents were staying so didn't cost me any more. This would have been costly over a stay over several days with a fAmily (£4 for adults £2 for each child).

If you go here not expecting luxury, but a good location and clean hotel with friendly staff then you should be okay.

Room Tip: 122 had a new bathroom, was a good size and was very clean

Value for money I suppose.
Bathroom showing signs of mould. Remote on T.V didnt work.
Restaurant ran out of food most evenings which meant that most in the know arrived for their meal as soon as food was served leaving those that arrived on the day with little or no choice, However food was palatable. Promised live music on one evening didnt materialise.Lifts dirty.
This is the type of hotel that attracts smokers, the middle night of our stay the fire alarm was set off by an illicit smoker. This seems a regular occurance as we were the only residents on floor four to leave our room.
Despite the above I suppose it was value for money and the pool was warm and clean and the staff tried hard.
We got what we paid for

Once again I checked the reviews for this Hotel after we had booked our coach holiday.I was quite worried as there were some bad reports. But once again your views didn't tally with what we found .Our room was very nice clean and lovely and warm. The food was very good hot and plenty of choice. The staff were so friendly nothing was too much trouble.Good entertainment .admittedly the lifts were tiny and if two coaches arrived together it did cause a problem. But there was plenty of seating so we just sat down and waited. Lovely holiday thank you Britannia.

Please do not be put off by the bad reviews, as we nearly cancelled our trip because of them. We are so glad we did not. We had a fabulous time, the staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The bar was very clean and tidy as was the bedroom. Some of the furniture was a little tired but the general state of most things was fine. The beds were some of the best we had slept in warm cosy and very comfortable ( we had 3 rooms). As for the food it could not be faulted it was lovely, hot with a lot of variety and plenty of it.

Only small criticism was that the entertainment was not very good and the bar closed at 11pm even when there was people in the bar. Would definitely rebook and recommend to friends.
