We have just arrived home from 11 nights at the Newark which was a fantastic base from which to explore Bournemouth and the surrounding area. The 3 proprietors greeted us warmly and made us feel at home immediately. The whole of the building was immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. The room was very comfortable and the standards of hygiene and general cleanliness were immaculate. The beds and bedding were in pristine condition as was the toilet / shower room.
It is situated a 5 / 10 minutes stroll to - the cliff top promenade - the pier - the Garden (with e.g. the balloon) - the town centre - the bus termini - the cinemas - the theatres - everything really.
The 3 proprietors are totally hands on and look after the premises, contents and visitors personally themselves. This includes the cooking and serving of the individually "tailor made" breakfast.
We will most certainly be revisiting the proprietors with whom we got on first name terms on day 2 of our visit. We have no hesitation in recommending the Newark to all.

Room Tip: The rooms are all of the same very high standard. An en-suite would obviously be ideal but the toile...

Probably the cleanest hotel room we have ever stayed in (No 7) with great views. Plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance and the town centre a good stride out. My wife was very happy and refreshed after our break. If she is happy then so am I, well done and thank you.

We have just returned from a fab break in Bournemouth made even better by our third stay at the Newark! Bournemouth wouldn't be the same for us without it! The hotel is spotlessly clean, the beds are very comfy and rooms are quiet and David, Andrew and Terry are very welcoming! We treat the hotel with the respect it deserves and the service we receive can not be faulted. David and Andrew spent a lot of time chatting to us and I believe we are now considered as friends! We love the great British seaside and whilst some UK resorts are run down, Bournemouth is thriving! So many tourists were in town and there are lots of activities for young and old to take part in! We will definitely be back! If you're thinking of a holiday at the seaside give bournemouth and the Newark a try, you won't be disappointed. Alison & Stu Chester Le Street.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Newark Hotel from the 6th to the 13th August. As soon as I got there I was welcomed in a truly familiar warm fashion. The atmosphere at the hotel was absolutely calm and relaxed. The room was clean, cosy, tidy and very well kept, provided with tea and coffee making facilities. In the morning you can enjoy a yummy full English breakfast. The hotel is run by the owner who is very efficient, thorough and professionally friendly.
This hotel has got a bit of an old fashioned charm; plus it is located within convenient walking distance from the seafront and lively central Bournemouth.
I would like to enjoy another stay at the Newark hotel very much indeed. Giovanni (Milan)

My husband and I and our 13yr old grandaughter stayed 5 nights 11th to 16th August. Room 1 was a good room, with a hall way with the wardrobe in, bathroom and bedroom with plenty of drawer space, it was like having an ensuite with a dressing room. We found David a little stressed and a tad grumpy on arrival but it is just his way (think of the head butler in Downton) but he is very thorough with his info and they are very good at giving you restaurant recommendations like Chez Fred in West Bourne - which was excellent (locals tell us to arrive at 5.30 - 5.50 if you don't want to queue) but it is worth queuing. We found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very hot, fresh and good quality well cooked. Both the Italian restaurants on Commercial Road (turn right out of the hotel, walk to the end of St Michaels Road turn left and cross the road - you have one that has curb appeal & then further up Pinnochios) both were very good, for Pizza, Pasta, steaks & chicken and good sweets. We also liked Pier 93 which is the other way out of the hotel - towards the sea - the best chips ever - I had Salmon, my husband had fish & chips & the grandaughter had a burger - you can have new pots, veg & salad - you don't have to have chips - the steaks and lamb looked good. They do some good cocktails & my grandaughter would recommend the smoothies. We would stay at The Newark again because it was relaxing, clean and friendly.

Room Tip: Room one would be great with a little one as you would have somewhere for the push chair and it is g...

We really liked our stay at the Newark hotel in Bournemouth. When we arrived, we were heartily welcomed and we were given an introduction including information about the hotel, our room and Bournemouth (as we're a couple from Germany and had never been to Bournemouth before). Our room was clean, nice and cosy providing us with everything we needed (even tea and coffee!).
We would like to point out that we LOVED the English breakfast. It was plenty and freshly made every morning. It definitely was one of the best we've ever eaten (we have been to England quite a few times :)).
Both, beach and town centre are a five minutes walk away from the hotel which is perfect!
Many thanks to the staff for offering such a great service!
If we ever visit Bournemouth again, we will definitely chose the Newark hotel again. You will not find a better hotel at this price!

Really fun friendly hotel and I agree with other guests that the service was of super standard. Quality hotel, classic b&b with charm. Local restaurants and pier within 10 mins strolling distance. Very clean rooms. Our hosts were full of local advice and were so friendly, I would recommend a stay here to all. I think it made our trip to Bournemouth that much more memorable.
