Stayed at this hotel on route to Poole ferry harbour. The staff were pleasant, the room was recently refurbished and clean. The hotel is situated on a busy road, with traffic ALL NIGHT LONG, the hotel is quite near to bars and clubs and there are drunks staggering around, shouting and being rowdy for most of the night. This hotel is used by large stag parties, be warned..... We had booked to stay on our return to the UK, hoping our second stay would be better. Unfortunately it only got worse!! All of the above problems, plus drunks returning to their rooms at all hours, knocking on doors, talking loudly with no regard to others. If you are going to Bournemouth to 'party' then you should be ok. If you want to sleep for whatever reason just don't bother. Very disappointed!!

Room Tip: AVOID ROOM 6, large bay window on the corner of the building, in fact, don't bother going!!

Dear startertoo,

Thank you for taking the time to review TravelRest Bournemouth we appreciate all feedback. I was happy to read that our hotel and the staff were to your liking but we are sorry to read that our central location was not to your liking. As you know we are supberbly located, but as such the aera is very busy, especially at weekends. We work hard to ensure that we control noise within the hotel so that guest disturbance is minimised. However we have no control over outside noise and traffic disturbances, but all our rooms are double glazed and many are located to the side of the main road.
Thank you again for your kind comments about the hotel and staff which are appreciated.

We booked via Laterooms a few hours before turning up to the hotel (not expecting much) but were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel. The building was easy to find having driven from London and was set in a great location – a 15minute walk or 3min taxi drive (£6) to the cinemas/clubs/casinos. There are only about eight parking spaces in front of the hotel but we were lucky enough to find a space as soon as we arrived.

The reception area of the hotel was very outdated, but the reception staff were very friendly and checked us into our rooms without hassle. We were given a key to the front door so that we could come and go as we pleased throughout the night. Once up in the room we realised we had nothing to worry about – the room was modern, the bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was massive. My only two qualms about the room would be that the shower pressure was pretty much non-existent and there wasn’t much space to hang things in the wardrobe. Apart from that, we would definitely return to this hotel in the future if we were looking for a budget deal.

I stayed here on a Saturday night which might have not been the best night to expect quiet. Me and my mum were staying here so that we could retire to bed after watching Derren Brown at the B.I.C. Upon checking in the gentleman at reception was very polite and chatty. It did take us twice circling the area to actually find the hotel because we were not notified by the change of name from The Kiwi Hotel to TravelRest. There is only a small sign to show it was the Kiwi Hotel but easily missed. I doubt many more people will have this trouble again because new bookings will have the correct name whereas we booked back in March. We had room number 104 which was the start of the corridor leading to the rest of the rooms and our door was just next to the door leading to the stairs. We found this to be a problem when people were arriving all through the night after going out because they would let the door slam and the floors are very creaky. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The room itself was fine for the price and our duration. Our TV didn't work which I assumed things like this would be checked before someone checks in, upon telling reception it didn't work; no help was provided. (It was 10:30pm but not even a suggestion was given.) Unfortunately our room was set between a divided Hen party so to each side of us would later have returning ladies who had been out drinking. Everyone who returned through out the night were noisy and had no respect for other guests (which is not the hotels fault.) I do suggested that perhaps Hen parties and Stag nights should all be situated on one floor, preferable the first floor and the rest of the guests on another floor to avoid disruption; as we were woken up throughout the whole night until 5am. We were also awoken to a couple arguing at around 12am and then later they decided to "make up" which went on for half an hour, good for him but I was expecting someone to have asked them to make love quietly by 3am. The hotel is also just off a road which has cars travelling all night along, that didn't bother us as much though. I would suggest anyone who is looking for a nights rest on a Saturday night would be best checking in somewhere else as this hotel seems to be for those who like to go out drinking. Otherwise it was perfectly fine.

Room Tip: Any rooms that are at the start of a corridor by the stairs or by the doors leading to the other roo...

Just came back from here, wasn't aware they had changed the name of the hotel, when I booked it it was Kiwiw hotel so took us ages to find lol. Lovely greeting from the man at reception, very clean and modern room. My daughter and I had booked for one night as we were seeing Derren Brown at the B.I.C, on our return back to the room we realised the TV did not work. I reported it to the reception which quite understandably as it was 10.30 in the evening said there was nothing she could do. We just wanted to chill, but the girl then looked on the computer to check if the TV should have been ok and chatted to her colleague in another language about it. Again said sorry nothing they could do and proceeded to giggle between them which I found quite rude. I know this is probably a one off but just didn't seem very helpful because the TV should have been checked before our arrival. I would say the location is great but not for the faint hearted as it is at the top of a steep hill. Also if you are looking for a place to chill after a long day avoid room no4, the whole night was people coming in, creaky floors, slamming doors (which is not the hotels fault) and also we had to put up with a domestic between a couple above then put up with the making up part at 3 in the morning!!! It is also just off of a main road which didn't really bother us except the occasional horn honkers. If you are planning to just go out on the town and just want somewhere to rest your head after a boozy night then its ideal. As I said, can't fault the cleanness of the hotel, room and location for all the things to do etc but just not ideal for those who are wanting to retire to their room early and sleep. Close to the beach, B.I.C and town center.

Room Tip: top floor maybe but not room for, as no4 is the start of the corridor upto rooms 24!!

Dear ceeking10,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review TravelRest Bournemouth. We appreciate all customer feedback. We apologise for the confusion caused due to our recent name change. We had tried to ensure all guests were informed of this change however it would appear we did not manage to inform you, for which I apologise.
As with many hotels in Bournemouth the weekend is the busiest time and a few of our guests do choose to go out into town and arrive back late at night causing some disturbances to other guests, for this I also can only apologise and assure you that we try to manage loud guests as well as we possibly can.
As for the instance which you explained involving the members of staff this has been dealt with and will not be an issue in the future. Customer service is something which we take very seriously and something that we are usually highly rated on so I apolgise this was not the case during your stay.
Kind Regards, Matthew Jewell

The service was very good on arrival and throughout. I was a little disappointed with the smaller room but it is a 'compact double' and depending on the room, some are better than others.
Some issues at breakfast with service/food each day. Very apologetic but again for the price it's almost expected. I didn't think it was cheap but I was more forgiving than if I'd paid more.

We booked a family room for three nights over the half term break and can say that the room rate was great value (laterooms.com) and the breakfast was superb value. Do not be misunderstood with other eateries offering a slightly lower breakfast rate, at the Travelrest you can order multiple courses if you so wish with unlimited tea/coffee/juice which when you have a hungry two boys gives great value.

Our room was large clean, and functional, the bathroom a little tight with bath towels for the smaller person only, if this was resolved it would score a definite 5, oh, and the staff were very warming, we will be returning.

Room Tip: If you have a family ask for the room with the largest bathroom.
