“Air show 2013”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Stayed at the hotel Friday & Saturday night, great room with balcony to view the action, a few minor issues like the left hand patio door broken and wouldn't open, no privacy between the adjoining balconies. Limited access to the terrace adjacent the bar due to corporate/private functions but all in all a fantastic location to watch the show will superb views all along the coast.

Room Service
Good choices at reasonable prices delivered promptly by friendly staff.

Breakfast
Good tasty choices although over the two days trying to get coffee or tea became a farce! We were asked what we would like "tea or coffee" 4 times by different waiters/ waitresses during both mornings, it eventually turned up long after we'd finished breakfast, like others we just laughed it off as it was just comical in the end?

Staff
I think some staff were brought in from an agency to cover the busy weekend and seemed to be disorganised, this said, everyone was always helpful and polite.

Room Tip: If your there for the air show you need to be located at the front.

Chose this hotel as it has uninterupted sea views and seemed ideal spot to watch the air show. It is an easy walk to the pier and BIC and from there, a pleasant walk through the winter gardens to the town centre. The hotel was all we hoped it would be, our room was newly furbished and clean. Food was excellent and plentiful, home made soups were soo good. Staff were smart and attentive and very kind to us old dears! Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Book earlier to get a room at front. Get the cliff railway for return from town.

After having an awful start to our break away we walked into this hotel on the off chance that they might have a sea view room. We were told that they did even though it was a very busy time. The guy on reception was very welcoming and asked if we wanted to view the room before paying for it. The room was lovely, it was a good size very clean and tidy we had a balcony over looking the sea. All the staff were very nice and friendly. We will defiantly use this hotel again.

Stayed for a couple of nights. Slept realyl well which is always one of the musts for a hotel stay for me.Breakfast was hot and fresh and yummy a great start to the day. In fact the food is really good with attentive well trained staff.
Will be staying here again

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the hotel with a balcony worth it for a superb view

We had a recent one night stay here which was booked quite late and we were very pleasantly surprised overall.
Upon arriving there only appeared to be one lady working on reception and with no luggage trolley available (we had a lot of stuff with us) the lady ended up helping move everything with ourselves from the car to the room, she was extremely helpful though and nothing was a problem.
The downstairs lounge area had a lovely décor.
Our room was large, well decorated, lots of space and very clean.
We had a sea view with a balcony which is definitely the way to go.
We opted to use the pool facilities in the Menzies Carlton hotel next door which you have access to which was fine but a strange set up for the pool and changing room area.
Breakfast was good, we had booked room only but on check in was told if we wanted breakfast if we booked then it would cost £7.50 per person rather than the standard £11.95 rate.
Overall good stay.

Room Tip: Try for a seaview room with a balcony

We stayed for 3 nights leading up to the air show.hotel staff were very friendly.we did the half board option which was excellent, breakfast was great but the dinners were amazing (and I would class myself as a foodie)! Area was good too, little walk to centre but still very close and overlooking beach. Pool nice temp too my son loved it!

We have just returned from a bank holiday break at the east cliff court and although this is listed as four star it doesn't quite reach expectations. Whilst the hotel itself is very very nicely decorated the restaurant staff are certainly not able to cope when the hotel is full. We had to wait just under an hour at breakfast for tea and coffee and some of the staff clearly couldn't cope. Having said that we found the food to be excellent very well presented and certainly four star.

We were given the wrong room but the hotel manager after an hour did manage to sort it out for us.

We would return but would definitely make sure our booking was confirmed both by phone and email. We were supposed to have had a superior sea view with balcony but sadly because the booking was done through Expedia there was a big mess up and we were given a room with seaview but no balcony.

Overall I think this hotel should be classed as 3* plus not 4* plus.

Hope this has been helpful.

Dear Guest,

Thankyou for the feedback given, i think it is appropriate to say you have not actually recorded the conversation I had with you on your day of departure. To clarify I offered your room complimentary for the rest of the day, and also gave you complimentary dinner for two in the evening which in my opinion was very generous given the feedback you gave.It is also interesting to see that you wrote the review despite saying you were very happy with what I had offered and would not do so.Paul Clarke, General Manager.
