Just stayed there as a delegate at the TUC. The hotel reception was very efficient, and looked after my case after checking out. It was recommended that we left our keys when going out, which seemed a tad quaint.
The food in the restaurant was very nice, and the evening meal venue was varied and different. Breakfast was cooked to order and as well as the normal hot stuff, you could have kippers or poached haddock. I had kippers without the egg. Mmmmm.
My room was quite standard and was a back room looking towards the town centre. A friend had a room overlooking the front, and when she turned in (early) for the night she could not have her window open as there was too much noise from the outside seated area and smokers. My room though was good, nice and clean, serviced daily. The floorboards were really creaky, and I bet I annoyed the guy in the room below me! Wi-Fi was free but very hard to get a connection.
The bar was very busy, and seemed understaffed the first night. It was okay the rest of the time.
Overall though, very enjoyable. Would stay here again, and that's the important thing.
