“Useful hotel for short break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2014

Took advantage of a good-priced 2 night break at this hotel through Amazon Local offer in mid July. Hotel has lovely surroundings with a warm open air pool which my wife made great use of. Only a short, but quite steep, walk through the grounds and down to the beach at Boscombe with its lovely sands.
We had evening dinner both nights in the restaurant and were please with our two-course servings (£14-95) both nights - cod, salmon, beef, duck etc. Three courses (£19-95) also available. All were well cooked & presented. Breakfasts were hot & cold buffets (with some items cooked for you such as poached eggs or kippers - no extra to pay). Could perhaps have been a few more types of fresh fruit available. Sometimes ran a bit low when one of the regular coach parties had been in early.
Restaurant, bars & front of house quite well decorated. We were in the west wing (perhaps because we were on special rate?). Had requested a sea view and did get one overlooking the pool with a side sea view so cannot complain. Room was quite large with nice bay windows, bathroom reasonably modern, bed comfortable. As others have noted, the carpets can be rather stained but are not dirty.
We enjoyed the stay here - in fact, we negotiated a good rate for an extra night as the weather was good (although no allowance towards dinner that had been available through Amazon).
Would come back again, on an offer, to this hotel, with friendly & helpful staff and in a quiet location but close to buses into Bournemouth, & Poole.

Everywhere you turn you can see the sea from the hotel. We arrived late, even though the restaurant closed at 9 they still wipped us up some sandwiches. Great hotel for young and old.
Outside heated pool and jaxuzzi.
Lots of childrens play areas inside and outside all on hotel rounds. Gardens are beautiful, our room was massive with a beautiful view of the sea (please see pic)
Not great varied choice of food in the evening hut do serve the British classic, Fish & Chip and steak & Chips etc. Choice of hot or cold food a breakfast.
I will be coming here again and i would defiantly recommend to everyone

Am sad to say this isn't one of the best places to stay in Bournemouth/Boscombe. The staff are perfectly friendly and the rooms are clean. However the rooms need an update to fix a few issues. I was here for two weeks and had two different rooms each one needed something fixing. The cold water is not cold! Towels and bath products are provided. There is wifi which is good in most part of the hotel and streaming videos on Netflix is fine, but searching the Internet often the connection drops out.

Food is fine if you have it maybe once or twice. Breakfast offers the usual array of full English, continental or cearal/fruit. There is a cappuccino machine so use that when you can and not the £2.65 ones from the bar. Dinner is often well presented and the staff are nice, but if you are vegetarian you may as well eat out, unless you are happy with pasta at lunch and dinner, or on one occasion just boiled rice!! Even though I stated I needed a veggie option for two weeks no one bothered to make it a little bit interesting.

The location and grounds are nice and there are some nice facilities but I wouldn't go again.

This is a hotel that needs an immediate make over, it is very tired, rather like most of the staff who give no eye contact. Check your room out asap as we were given a poky hole of a dump but having pointed out that my son was 10 not 10 months old were moved! Breakfast is shambolic and thank God for the waiter who actually smiled, think he was a Real fan! The pool is just lovely but beware of the grannies who don't like children splashing...we witnessed a full on argument between parents of a little boy on holiday and a club granny who lost the plot! Pool attendant is a breath of fresh air, excellent service with a friendly smile. Last but by no means least a shout out to the Funsters who were fantastic, they work tirelessly with great humour and attention to all children, without them our stay at Chine would have been so much less fun!!! I expect this hotel to bought out in the future as it had all the credentials for a real shining star in Boscombe but clearly the current management want it to fail. Did I mention the red, worn out stairs were never hoovered once during our 5 day stay, disgrace! We had fun laughing about all the ridiculous elements of he Chine but strangely, having said all that would return just for the pool x

Obviously I love The Chine! If you want to feel special and be treated with that extra bit of sparkle this is the hotel To visit with its beautiful gardens, the way they cascade down the cliff so the gardens are on different levels and their in and outdoor pool with an excellent breakfast selection and wonderful sea-view rooms and brilliant location
just perfect in my eyes.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are best

My company had the pleasure of staying at the Chine Hotel the week of July 7th thru 13th. It has a charming atmosphere with beautiful gardens that we enjoyed daily. Leading from the Garden was a walkway down to the beach. The best part of the hotel however was the staff. In the morning we had a wonderful Breakfast and most evenings we had dinner in the dining room. We met the charming restaurant manager named Anna Muller. She showed such warmth and joy in everyone she met and talked with. You could tell that she loved people and her job. We also met several of the hostesses such as Teresa and Jazz plus others who I cannot recall their names but were all so courteous, friendly, and all took the time to talk with us. It was a joy getting to know these wonderful people and stay at this quaint and peaceful hotel. I will definitely come again and recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 305 which looked down at the gardens and onto the beach. Couldn't have been a...
