“loevly hotel good position and nice gardens”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

we stayed for two nights with our son and his family, both of our rooms over looked the sea and had balconies .they had a family room connected which easily accommodated three children .
there is a good size soft play area and a nice pool .In spite of the rather cold weather we all found things to do.
The food at breakfast and in the evening was very good with a very helpful Maitre de ,all of the staff were helpful and accomodating. All in all a very good place to stay

Room Tip: if you want a sea facing room make sure the booking agents understands ,also there are rooms over th...

Had a lovely weekend at this Hotel ,could not fault the room & the facilities ,the reception staff were very helpful & polite,as was the rest of the staff. The location & the views from the hotel are great. We really enjoyed our breakfast which was from the self serve buffet which was hot ,& being constantly replenished we would return to this Hotel no hesitation.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 321 which had a large balcony & fantastic views of the sea .

We stayed at The Chine for a night with our teenage daughter so had a family room. Our room was huge and had a seperate room with bunk beds so was ideal as we all had our own space and privacy. The beds were comfortable and the room peaceful. We were not disturbed by noise form other guests at all as the rooms seems well spaced out and have very solid walls! We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice and quality - much better than some hotel breakfasts we have experienced. The location is good as not to far from Bournemouth town centre and very close to the beach. Parking at the hotel is a bit limited although there are plenty of places nearly.

We used the swimming pool which was very clean and would have visited the gym if we had more time.

We would certainly come here again as it was much nicer that many of the hotel chains that offer family rooms and had bags more character.

Room Tip: Room 106 was a greatf amily room.

Had a lovely weekend away. Small bathroom but everything we needed in the room. About a 25 minute walk along the seafront to Bournemouth. Very tasty breakfast enjoyed with a fantastic view over the gardens and sea.

I have visited this hotel on many occasions and it is always a delight to step back in time to bygone times in the town and the beautiful rooms, solid wood floors and amazing photographs of theatre stars in years gone by. The service is warm and friendly but the food needs to have a major overhaul to bring it up to speed with its competitors. Having had lunch and dinner here I would say its is often mediocre with smallish size helpings and highly priced. It is a shame as I think if this is a quality hotel but in danger of losing custom over something that is easily changed

Just returned from two night break. The Chine is set on a cliff in Boscombe set back from the sea.
Our sea view room was a reasonable size with a small ensuite. A good size balcony overlooking a flat roof and the sea is there in the distance. Not quite as I had visualised it.
For the price the hotel was reasonable. Most of the staff are excellent with the least welcoming /friendly being the front desk receptionists.
We were disappointed that the first evening menu did not suit our tastes so we had a simple but tasty brasserie meal, on our second evening we had an excellent three course meal.
Breakfast today was missing a lot of items were missing even though we arrived at 10 am.
The hotel is good but could improve with more helpful front desk staff and closer management of the restaurant so that menus are better balanced, basic provisions do not run out and it is staffed in accordance with number of customers. The gardens are lovely and the pools nice.

Room Tip: There were noises from above so maybe 3rd floor is a good idea. For two days we could not be bothere...
