“A must to see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

This museum is one fro a bygone age. It is stuffed with beautiful things, so you need to allow half a day to see it all. The staff are lovely and helpful. Most importantly is it is free. Stroll around the garden and have a drink. Ideal if the weather is a bit off.

“Great house and amazing cafe - a real hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

The house is amazing when you go inside - well worth a visit just to see the preserved architecture - the cafe does great home made food with great service - the cafe is free to visit so you dont need to buy a ticket to the museum to go in - we visited the cafe on several days during our holiday as it was the best place near the beach to get proper home made food at lunchtime - everybody was very friendly too.

“One of the best things to see in Bournemouth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

This is a truly amazing house with the most amazing collection of art and furniture. The visitor steps back in time and is free to wander through the beautifully ornate rooms and galleries at their own pace. The views across the sea front are some of the best to be had and to cap it all it has a very good little restaurant ideal to sit and relax and talk about the things you have seen.

“cloudy or wet day alternatives to that Bournemouth sun tan!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

The Russell Cotes museum, has I must agree, does not have the external appearance of the pandora's box within. However the premises have just had a major re-modelling and the exhibits are quite breath taking. Russell Cotes was an extraordinary collector of whatever took his fancy regardless of value during his lifetime in the Victorian period, while just down the road my great grandfather struggled to provide for his family with the blacksmith skills he possessed, their lifestyles are worlds apart and are made the more fascinating for this! To the ordinary local family, our cherished musical box was to my family,"state of the art" but on the cliff top, Russell packed his home with treasures gathered from all over the world, many are beyond compare. Not to be missed and it also has a new catering experience!

“Art Gallery Home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

It retains much of the character of a comfortable Victorian home and houses the typical art collections of a Victorian gentleman.
