Beautiful day in lovely Bournemouth and a below average hotel made for an unpleasant stay.

I'm not sure how many rooms this hotel has, but the parking is wholly inadequate, I guess around 15 parking spaces and even then unless you have a smart car, can't fit in it.
One person on duty when we checked in and didn't seem clued up on how things work. Unhelpful.

The room:
It was as clean as it could have been, but very dated and tired looking.
Unfortunately the most important bit of furniture also happened to be the worst, the bed.
We booked a double and had two single beds pushed together, which is very unpleasant. Also both mattresses had collapsed and on many occasions during the night felt myself 'rolling off' the bed. Neither me or my GF slept a wink....for all the wrong reasons :(
Very small TV, but other than that it worked well enough.
The kettle still had 'old' water in it and would be better suited in a museum, old and noisy. The tea and coffee was as budget as you can find, horrible.
We only had a shower, no bath. The smell of old damp made the entire room smell so we had to leave the bedroom window open with the bathroom extractor running for the evening whilst we were out.
The door gets locked at 11pm, but we were given a front door key, which is a good idea.
Overall the hotel was reasonably quiet, but the lack of apparent staff was evident.

The breakfast:
Was adequate and tasty, but a child's portion. 1 each of sausage, bacon. half a tomato, half slice of fried bread and one poached egg.
We both found the breakfast waiter to be aloof and almost to the point of being rude , calling me " and you.." No ketchup, had to ask. At no time asked if we wanted more coffee or tea in the smallest cups in the world .

The Beach:
Was lovely and close and even with my poor knee were on it within 10 minutes walk., lovely and relaxed.

Checkout:
On arriving back to the hotel from our walk found the maid already in our room a good hour before we checked out, all our stuff was still out and found this very intrusive, especially as we were only staying one night. The hotel was NOT busy so find the need for the rushed room cleaning unnecessary.
We put the key on the desk and the 'deputy manager' didn't even ask how our stay was.

VERY glad to leave and get home.

In all honesty the best part of our stay here was the perfectly cooked poached egg....yes really.

Room Tip: Best of luck, I'm really not sure you'll find one

We stayed here for one night recently and whilst we had a friendly welcome and the room we had was very spacious and clean the housekeepers let us down. The check out time was 11am which gave us that Sunday morning lie in. We had a knock at the door at 8am just to see if the room was empty! Surely looking at the checkout keys would be the first thing they done? They also need to chat together more quietly. Maybe do not disturb notices for the doors need to be introduced

Monday to Friday bowling tour with 50 friends, great fun, lovely welcome, friendly informative staff, good ,location up on the west cliff, 2 minutes from the headland with amazing views east & west. Small room but comfortable & clean. Some of the rooms were huge with sea views & baths but we had a shower.
Food extremely good with 3 choices each course & a huge dessert menu, they are very happy to prepare a delicious salad if there is nothing else you fancy.
Lift to all 3 floors, little garden at the back.

Room Tip: Ask for bath if you require one

Had a weekend in October with a group of friends. What good value this hotel is. Entertainment both nights including an excellent Murder Mystery dinner (that we won!!) and Sunday lunch all part of the package. The hotel is brilliantly placed for central Bournemouth and yet tucked away. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable with tea and coffee equipment. The rooms at the back are quieter and some of them are bigger than others but all are perfectly fine for us. The shower we had was small but it did the job, just remember to bring shower gell and other bathroom stuff because only soap is provided but that is a minor quibble. The food is pretty good and there is plenty of it. You might find a temporary shortage of glasses at the buffet breakfast if there is a rush on but more are soon bought.

There is also a games room for snooker and table tennis, which we all used and a little garden at the back if it is sunny.

All in all a fab weekend and we will be back again as we have for the last 10,years.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter and rooms 3 and 12 are big/family rooms.

What a very nice hotel. The rooms, staff and food were all above anything I had expected. The décor was clean, tidy and new looking. Rooms were spacious and the beds were, well to put it bluntly, Massive and comfortable. There is a lot to be said for sheets and blankets, a nice change from the obligatory duvet.
All staff from Reception to restaurant were exemplary, and I have worked in the catering service industry for over 30 years.
Now that is not to say that everything was perfect, but that would be a big ask for ANY hotel, no matter what the stars they have been awarded. The showers were a bit lack lustre and the water temperature seemed to be self regulatory! But it was clean, if a little dated. The radiators seemed to come on at the warmest time of the day, i.e. NOT in the morning, but that was all, and not a deal breaker.
The rooms were cleaned and tided daily, and the original period lift was a definite talking point in our group.
All in all, a little gem has been found by us, and we will DEFINITELY be staying again….Thank you

Room Tip: My room was great, 34, and so was our friends, 19

Wanted a hotel near the BIC and ullswater fitted the bill. Only 200yds from beach and 5 mins to the BIC.We had a room on the 3rd floor front and if you looked between the buildings on the front you could even see the sea.The room was clean, warm, comfy had just what was needed for our stay. We asked for a ice bucket and staff were happy to help no problem.Breakfast was good again staff helpful friendly.Only drawback is on street parking can be difficult but reception happy to help, they may ask to keep your keys to move vehicles if you need to block someone in, so if you get a spot leave it there.Overall a great stay thanks.

Room Tip: top floor front, can see the sea thru the houses
