“Another great Weekend at the Ullswater”
Reviewed April 11, 2011

This was our 2nd visit to the Ullswater and we are so pleased to have found it. It is a very friendly and welcoming hotel and we feel relaxed as soon as we walk through the door! You are made to feel very welcome. The bedrooms are ideal- spacious, clean, comfy beds -perfect bathroom facilities. Dining room and bar area ideal. Sun trap in the garden Its minutes from the lovely sandy beach and Bournemouth town centre. Excellant value.

We had an overnight stay at Ullswater june 2010. The choice was made because of price, location (close to center) and guest reviews. And we have to say that everything met our expectations. It was excellent value, staff was friendly and quick, the room was clean and breakfast had your standard english choices. It was close to both centre and beach front, approx 8-10 mins walk. And it wasn't a hotel for stag/hen parties etc so it wasn't that much of a risk for screaming, youthful partygoers if you just want a quiet night sleep:)
PS: parking was in street and most places was occupied when we arrived late, but the staff said we could just park in front of the entrance and leave key in reception so they could move it if necessarly. Worked like a charm.

I had a nice quiet room with a tv with terrestrial channnels. The staff were super friendly and helpful, offering to let me store my bike in the shed. The breakfast was filling and delicious. My only (constructive) criticism is that guests must pay for wifi access (a nominal fee of a few quid), which some some hotels still require but the connection was veeerrrryyy slow and wasn't even working one night so I ended up wandering around looking for a connection.

We chose this hotel because the staff sounded really helpful when we contacted them. We were a party of 20 people with an age range of 5 to 72!
This was a surprise 4 day break for our disabled brother-in-law's 40th birthday. The staff could not have been more accomodating and friendly, they even allowed us to have balloons and banners in our area of the dining room.
The food was delicous and always served with efficiency even though there were 20 of us.
The rooms were clean and comfortable although the decor was a bit tired in some.
They have a full size snooker table on one games room and the other has a table tennis table, 2 card tables, TV (with a selection of childrens DVD's & videos) and a few comfy armchairs, perfect for all ages!
If you want 5 star luxurious surroundings then book elsewhere but if you're looking for somewhere to stay that is reasonably priced, has good food, child friendly staff, and within a stones throw of the West Cliff then this is the hotel for you.

Chose this hotel for the 3 night New Year House Party with a group of friends, disappointed that average age of guests appeared to be 70+, and they did not seem to interact with the entertainers. Room on 3rd floor somewhat dated and shower very tiny and difficult to get in to, then very little power and either boiling hot or freezing cold. Food and service excellent, owners and staff welcoming and friendly. 3 nights enterntainment put on was excellent and supposed to be a fancy dress party on New Years Eve but only 1 group dressed up. Hotel ideally situated for Bournemouth Centre, and lovely beach walks to Boscombe and Sandbanks.
