This was a reasonably priced hotel within the Best Western Group. Away from centre of Bournemouth but within walking distance albeit uphill. Few minutes walk to the cliff gave panoramic views. Rooms pleasant and quiet. Small bar. Dinners although now advertised were reasonable and as it was out of season okay. Staff were extremely kind and helpful.

I have stayed here before. It is a respectable enough private hotel convenient for the town centre although it falls more into the bed and breakfast category because of the lack of a proper evening restaurant and a la carte menu. It is decent enough BUT ... At check in I asked for another room as the one I was offered (room 28) is mainly a sloping ceiling more like a loft conversion and the double bed is two singles pushed together. I was offered an alternative room 14 which although smaller has full height ceilings and a proper double bed. Room 14 was better for me for one night but it is stretching the imagination to call it a double at the price which is £100 per night bed only. The bathroom is so small that you eat the sink while sitting on the toilet. Overall the hotel and rooms are clean and reasonable well decorated. On site car parking can be challenging and especially so when staff reserve their own spaces with bollards eg the person with the purple motorbike. The staff are professional although the foreigner's english takes a little bit of understanding sometimes. This needs improving! While their is a brew kit in the room it is the bare minimum (2 tea bags and two coffee sachets) but more importantly no biscuits. There is a well stocked bar area but it is not manned full time and doesn't have the local bottled Ringwood ale as advertised which is somewhat disapointing. When this was booked with Best Western reservations I was advised that it is pay on departure however when I checked in I was asked to pay which I argued against but did pay. Then they were unable to give me a VAT invoice because of a new Best Western software system that only allows invoices to printed after 21.00 hours. Is this for real? Such administrative inconvenience for business travellers will surely turn people away? Breakfast is basic but adequate with hot plate service however there is no decaff tea and no gluten free bread available and no option for porridge or an omlette or fish (and this is a seadise hotel). I note in the Best Western directory that this is classed as a 3 star e which means it is not inspected by BW ... ? I also note that it is classed as a METRO which means a breakfast to set you up for the day ... well in my opinion the breakfast is OK but it is not that special. So in conclusion this is a decent enough and convenient enough hotel for the town centre if the price is right eg less then £60 for B and B. If the other BW hotels are lower in price then they are surely a preferred option. Don't get me wrong this hotel is far from poor but it seems to think it is in a league higher than it actually is.

Dear Craig Fuller,

Thank you for completing the survey regarding your recent stay at our property.

In regards to your room, we upgraded you to a Superior room (28) which all have zip & link beds; this is very common in majority of the Hotels in the UK. These rooms are bigger and thought it would suit your comfort more. As this wasn’t appropriate for your needs we then moved you to our only available room which was a Standard Double room. We supply enough teas / coffees with regards to the occupancy in the room but have plenty more available at reception which is supplied upon request.

VAT Receipts can only be generated after our night audit has been run; therefore all invoices are printed around 10pm ready for check-out the next day. This is due to our individual booking system. The Hotel’s Policy is payment on arrival as our corporate guests leave early in the morning and this is usually a lot easier for them.

We have limited free on-site parking and we offer more spaces than many other hotels in Bournemouth, We try to fit as many cars as we can in the car park. The purple motorbike was a guest’s as none of the staff ride a motorbike.

We stock a varied range of Real Ales but we were awaiting for our Delivery of Ringwood Best and a few other Ales which is delivered on a Thursday, being a Metro Bed & Breakfast Hotel we offer a limited but sufficient Bar Menu for our guests.

Breakfast has a variety in choice and this includes fresh salmon with poached / scrambled eggs. We always stock Gluten free bread and this is supplied upon request as well as decaf tea & coffee. Porridge is also available and it made fresh to order.

We don’t discriminate towards our staff due to their nationality and feel that they are all highly adequate in communicating with the guest’s, I’m surprised that you had trouble with this as it doesn’t usually seem to be an issue.

Best Western 3 star Hotels still have to have yearly inspections and we had ours Monday which passed and met all standards.

Yours sincerely,

Charlotte Seaton

I found this hotel very good. The staff were amazingly friendly and tried very hard to please. My first room was a bit too small as I am disabled and use a mobility walker, so we had to change rooms and were given a much bigger room immediately which was more than perfect. There were a few slight problems with disabled access for instance there are steps at front of hotel and we were advised to enter around the back through the car park .It was not always possible to park in the car park which caused a few problems. When entering through the back door (definately not wheelchair accessible), we then went into a lift to our room. However, to go to breakfast it meant dealing with a few steps which I managed. The food in the hotel was excellent and plentiful. It was very local to shops etc and 2 minutes drive to the beach. I would stay here again definately, but have to say the hotel is no good for wheelchair access. The staff were the friendliest and most accomodating I have ever encountered.

Room Tip: ok for disabled travellers who can walk a few steps. No good for wheelchair access

My husband and I made a late booking for the Montague Hotel for the night of the 16th April and were very pleasantly surprised. We were upgraded to a delightful superior room, without requesting it. The reception and general staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast was delicious. We will certainly try to stay there again if we visit Bournemouth. Many thanks.

I spent 2 nights there with my bfriend. Staff was very nice and friendly.
We took our bikes as well, they provided a place where we could keep them during the night. Unfortunately there was no lock on the door, so take your locks with you. CCTV is working there.
Breakfast was great.
Room was clean.
Location is good. The beach around 10 minutes walk. Restaurants from the place bit fare... but you can eat at the hotel.
I recommend this place.
