“Good food, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014 via mobile

Just returned from a weekend at the suncliff hotel. We had a superior double room which was adequate but not as luxurious as id hoped, smallest double bed I've ever seen but the balcony was huge; a roof terrace really with table and chairs., room 102. Had breakfast and one evening meal in hotel, breakfast was superb, great choice and cooked well. Evening meal was well presented and tasty. The restaurant manager is excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on your stay at the Suncliff.

I am happy to see that on the whole you enjoyed your time with us. Our rooms do vary in size and shape and we are always happy to show alternatives if available. But the first floor rooms do have lovely spacious balconies and amazing views over ocean. Our food and service is an asset to the hotel and the company and one commented on very often. The restaurant manager is indeed a character and loved by many!

I hope you will come back in the near future , best wishes!

Have recently spent a couple of days at The Suncliffe, what a lovely break. Weather was excellent, we had a nice room overlooking the sea. Staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming. We booked for dinner on both nights and were not disappointed. The restaurant was very busy, but Miguel the restaurant manager was so friendly and professional and quickly a table was laid and we were escorted to our seats. The food was excellent with plenty of choice to suit most people. On the following evening Miguel recognised us and we were taken immediately to our table, the service was excellent. Every member of the staff in the restaurant worked hard and efficiently to make sure meals were delivered promptly to each table.

The walk to Bournemouth is very pleasant, the zig-zag path is great, but there is a lift to take you down to beach level if needed.. Once at the bottom there is a wide expanse of beach to cater for everyone. Once away from the pier area the beach is empty. Lovely long walk along to Sandbanks if you are keen, or find a seat and 'people watch' especially when the sun is out.

Another good point, bus stop right outside the hotel if needed, which takes you directly into Bournemouth town and a multitude of shops to browse.

Really enjoyed the hotel and will definitely go again.

We stayed at the Suncliff Hotel for a quick and easy night away. We also booked the restaurant for the evening meal as thought that this would be easy as then everything would be onsite. After reading the mixed reviews we thought that this would be the best hotel for our budget.

When we arrived at the reception the staff were very helpful informing us with regards to the parking to the front of the hotel, where the gym and restaurant were located and opening times. The hotel is a bit dated and the carpets are wearing in the corridors and up the stairs.

The room was quite dated with mismatched furniture but it was very clean, the sheets were crisp and the towels were white, the shower in the bathroom worked perfectly. We went to the gym and the equipment is very out of date and all of the machines were broken, this does need a severe update. The swimming pool was a nice size, clean and tidy and the sauna was nice and hot. The changing rooms were quite outdated but there were lockers that could be used for your items.

We went to the restaurant and it was very busy with coach companies and what appeared to be Golden wedding anniversaries and birthdays. Even though it was busy the bar tender, the waitress and Jose the manager attended to our needs and were polite, funny and very professional. The food was hot and delicious when it came out to us. I would defiantly go there again.

The hotel is placed perfectly for people who like to walk, although the incline to the promenade is very steep once you are down there then the walk to Bournemouth or Boscome the otherway is very nice. (There is a chargeable lift which can be used to get down and up to the promenade).

I would defiantly stay at this hotel again, it was a bit dated but for the amount of money that we spent staying at the hotel it was very good value. We felt welcomed and everyone was really friendly.

ChapFurbs,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your views on the Suncliff Hotel. I understand that some area of the hotel are not as modern as people would like but we are doing our very best to upgrade and maintain the hotel with our in house maintenance team as well as investing in carpets, our bedroom stock and various other projects we are working on.

The gym was investited in a couple of years back, one of the displays needed new batteries, but most machines were working. Some you have to start using for the to start working. I have however taken your comments on board and will look to make some improvements.

The restaurant team work very hard to make sure guests are looked after and we have always worked hard on our service and food quality so I am glad to see you enjoyed this.

Thank you once again for your comments and I hope to see you again soon.

Best wishes

We visited for a week as part of a coach tour. Our experience at the hotel was a good one. The bedroom was large and well-kept. The food and service in the resaurant were excellent. We would certaily choose this hotel again if we wanted to stay in the area - and recommend it to friends.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments regarding your stay. We are refurbishing our bedroom stock including replacing carpets periodically. I apologise that you did not find the accommodation to your liking. I am sure if requested the staff would have tried to move your room on request.

We do have a few different types of shower within the hotel but again we would always replace anything faulty with our in house maintenance team. I have checked our log and after you reported this shower it was then fixed.

I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay however if you did return I would also suggest speaking with the management or reception if you had any issues with your room or stay and there are many things we can do to help you. We do care about our guests and really do bend over backwards to try and ensure everyone enjoys their time with us.

Best wishes

Have just returned home after a fantastic 3 day visit. I had booked a family room for 4 in celebration of my daughter's 18th (not that the hotel staff knew). When we arrived (grandmother, mother and daughter) less 1 member of the party (son), we found out we had been upgraded to the Zara Penthouse. When walking into the room we were amazed. It was beautiful with lovely sea view. We found the staff all very friendly, helpful and polite. Breakfast was yummy and plentiful. Thank you for making our 3 days so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Would recommend Sea view penthouses, but did not see any other room so cannot comment on them.

I went to this hotel on Friday the20th of June and stayed till the 22nd. It was just a short break to meet up with my two nieces who live in Bournemouth. My brother and I had a twin bed room that was very light and airey. there was plenty of wardrobe space and it was very clean. We all had a meal in the restaurant on the Friday evening which was great . We found the hotel very pleasant and all the staff were friendly. We had a good weekend. there was not enough car parking space so we just parked on the road outside the hotel. It cost us three pounds for the weekend. No problem
