Stopped in Westbourne for a bite to eat on the way home from the Cinema. There's quite a big choice of eateries in Westbourne but were we sufficiently tempted by the look of the place from the outside to decide to eat at EaudeVie. Good decision. Friendly welcome, good choice of wines and great food. We shared a starter of prawns with chorizo which was delicious although some crusty bread would have been nice to mop up the lovely tomatoey sauce. We followed this with a pink and juicy steak burger which came in a tasty chargrilled bun with tomatoes, red onion, a gherkin, some lovely salad, garlic mayo and fabulous chips. Regrettably we were too full for dessert but had a very nice espresso to finish. The Sunday lunches sounded great - we'll be back soon to check them out!

I took my family for dinner here when they visited me for the weekend. We went on a Saturday night around 7.30. The decor is trendy and food was of an excellent standard which is what u would expect for the price. The only thing that let it down was there is no separate bar area so as more people came in for Saturday night drinking the crowd filled in the bar area surrounding our tables where we were having our meal. It got so noisy we had to shout to have a conversation. Would be better I feel on a week night or lunchtime.

Went there on Saturday night and had booked a table for 10 of us at 8.30pm. As it was peak time, the bar/restaurant was buzzing and had a nice fun atmosphere. We had had to book our meals in advance as it was a biggish group and booked last minute-ish and they'd had to squeeze us in. Everything got out fine and everyone was happy with their meals.

I had the market burger which comes with amazing roast potato style chips and ordered onion rings on the side - very nice. A friend had asked for cheese on his burger which they did put on even though it doesn't say so on the menu and they didn't charge him - great! Very happy with the service from James and Gemma.

The guy taking our money (he had dark hair) ended up losing Eau de Vie most of their tip. We were all paying separately and the last person to pay on their card had had a £24 fillet steak but the guy just kept saying the bill was settled - oh well!

Was great that we booked the last sitting for food at 8.30pm as we got to keep the table all the way till closing at 1.30ish. Only thing is try not to drink too much or where 10 inch high shoes as the toilets are up a steep lot of stairs! All, in all, a lovely cozy little place - westbourne is very lucky!

A group of us decided to have a drink in EauDeVie as a couple members of our party had been there before and said that it was a great place for evening cocktails. Everything seemed good about the place, the atmosphere, friendly door staff etc. We ordered a round of drinks and the two ladies in our group ordered the same cocktail as each other. When the cocktails were brought over to the table they noticed that the cocktails were served in smaller glasses than last time they were there. Much considerably smaller in fact, it appeared one cocktail had been made and shared between these smaller glasses. I spotted a staff member clearing glasses who wasn't the server of the drinks but I decided to ask him if it was correct that the cocktail was supposed to be served in such a small glass. He instantly got on the defensive and told us that it was the same size and that we were the ones in the wrong, he came across as fairly rude. A few minutes later one of our party needed the bathroom and asked him where it was. He sarcastically pointed at a sign and said "Its where the big letters say toilet!" I don't know the name of this staff member but he was fairly short with dark hair and a goatee from what I remember. The icing on the cake came when the manager asked us if we wanted another round of drinks, which we did and lo and behold, the cocktail came in its original large size!

I pointed out to her what had happened as we now had the visual aid of the original glasses and the proper one on the table and it was clear to see that you could easily have poured both small glasses into the large one so we had clearly been short changed and she immediately went to refund us the money from one of the cocktails, a nice but expected gesture.

She was very apologetic and told us that the bartender had provided the same amount of spirits but had just not used as much ice in the original serving but she was surprised to see that this wasn't true as one of our ladies still had pretty much the whole thing left, and it had ice to the brim. I pointed out that whether we had been short changed or not, we didn't feel it was right to be rudely told we were wrong by a staff member, when it was clearly a mistake on their part.

The manager was helpful to us and I think she knew she had been let down by her team in this situation.
