we once again had our annual holiday at the Elstead, which is for around the 6th year running, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay once again. from the moment we arrived the holiday had begun.
Our room was spotless as usual and to a most satisfactory standard. One of the delightful points of returning was that most of the hotel staff we met have been there since we first attended- that must surely say a lot........not forgetting that we also meet during our stay people who we recognise and some we now know well over the years as they have continued to return- again that speaks volumes.
The dining room staff were excellent in their attendance, with the meals being of a high standard, and variety- most nights the chef could certainly be complimented.
We value the warmth and personality of the Resturant Manager who carries out his duties with a caring manner, detailed and watchful eye and most acceptable humour.
The overall performance of the Elstead must be recognised, for a 2 week stay in Bournemouth for our summer holidays, we would not look past this hotel at all.
Look forward to seeing everyone once again next year.

Disappointing and dated. This room is sadly in need of an update from its current 1980's look. It could be so much better with minimal investment. Whilst it had a TFT Tv with freeview, you needed binoculars to see the small screen from from the bed.
We did not try the restaurant, found a nice Sri lanken restaurant in the town-looks like a transport cafe but the food was great.

The Hotel has plenty of parking, we were at the back of the Hotel and kept awake by a large ventilation fan too. The ceiling fan in the room makes a noise so we would have liked the window open.
The double rooms are small and all rooms need updating. The breakfast is good with buffet stye hot and cold food. Haddock, kippers etc could be ordered at no extra charge.
The staff are very friendly and the Pool and Gym are an excellent plus.
The Hotel is a few mins walk from the train station and 10 mins to beach and town centre.

A colleague and I stayed here for one night for a business trip in July. I chose this hotel after reading favourable reviews from other visitors. Having stayed there I now can't believe they were in the same hotel as us!

It was like being transported back into another era - which was where most of the facilities seemed to have come from. The beds were awful with uncomfortable mattresses and the flattest pillows I have ever seen. Not conducive to a good night's sleep. Bedding was still sheets and blankets - no duvets! Absolutely everything here needs modernising.

The shower was a dribble - certainly not strong enough to have rinsed soap out of my hair so I didn't even try - which was probably a good job as the hairdryer appeared to have come from the dark ages (one of those plastic boxes on the wall with a tube coming out of it ?) and was so weak it would have taken hours to dry anything!

My room was at least clean, although the skylight in my colleague's was apparently covered in cobwebs so I guess that wasn't consistent.

The restaurant was like being transported back in time. The supposedly fresh fruit at breakfast tasted like it was out of a tin. Everything was very basic.

They advertise free wifi - laughable. So slow it was unusable. When I rang down to ask if something was wrong I was just told no one else had complained.

Needless to say we will not be going back.

been 4 days in Bournemouth and stayed at Elstead. lovely indoor pool that i spent most of the time. Breakfast was the way i like. I`m not english but i love an english breakfast. 10 out of 10. The guy in charge for the restaurant wasn't very polite but did not bother me ! Friendly staffs from the reception. The room was very comfortable and clean. The only thing i can fault is the location. A bit far from the beach, bars and clubs.

The booking was for business, but I was made to feel it was a holiday. The staff were great. Every wish was catered for. The food was good, even the breakfast buffet was better than most of the places I have stayed in. The room was clean and comfortably large. The swimming pool, gym and sauna, were a big plus for unwinding, but the bar, with a very late closing time and friendly staff added the finishing touches to a really enjoyable stay.
