Koh Thai has two restaurants in the Bournemouth area. The original in Boscombe has a laid back, almost hippyish ambiance (but with seriously good food and service) and a newer larger one in Bournemouth centre. We visited the newer one on a Thursday night at the end of January as a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. On booking the table 3 weeks previously I had to pay a £10 per person deposit (compulsory for groups of over 4 and although I've had to do it a couple of times previously it still grates a bit !). It was a quiet night in Bournemouth that evening and virtually every bar and eatery between the square and and Koh was deserted, with Koh being the exception, it was sold out with every table taken, (hence the deposit). We were shown immediately to our table and drinks orders were taken shortly after. The atmosphere was fantastic, real hustle and bustle from the young and mega enthusiastic waiting staff all added to the feel of the place, and judging from the other smiling and laughing diners I think that everyone else in the restaurant felt the same way. Decor and lighting just right, superb food and not too pricey makes this a real must. I think you can just use the bar if you wish but really it would be a waste. You can get a drink in any number of bars in Bournemouth but food like Koh's is not to be missed. Only one warning, hot means really hot with the Boozy Duck (my wifes fav) almost blowing your head off ! Don't put it off, book now for a great night, I can't wait for my next visit.
