“Stag Party - (Does what it says on the tin!)”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We stayed here for my Stag night. It is a nice value hotel, comfortable beds, clean. 1 member in our party on returning in early hours of morning had forgotten which room they were in but was assisted by a very helpful security guard! biggest selling point was good quality breakfast buffet (Needed after heavy night before!)

A good mid-range hotel offering clean comfortable accommodation at attractive and affordable prices (discount room rate for B+B), we arrived 24-27th December 2012 - Arrived late and a warm welcome was provided and our reservation confirmed and room 115 allocated - 3rd floor away from the lift and stairs as requested - south facing room to rear of hotel. Large room with twin bed en-sauite - evereything you could ask for warm, comfortable and ample space to omove around in. The room has Tea/coffee making, iron/trouser press, t.v/radio, room lights and bedside lights, bathroom had a bath/shower, toiler and sink, both rooms had windows and were both able to be opened and used as you liked, locks on both main bedroom door and bathroom, Beds were firm and comfortable (had a decent nights sleep). hot shower, pressure ok but could be better. Used the restuiarant for breakfast and an open plan buffet breakfast is available with a good choice of cerials, fruits, yogarts, cooked breakfast items and toast, jams, marmalade and tea/coffee. nice touch is the late breakfast til 10.30am at weekends and bank holidays. Staff were helpful. We had dinner on the 26th Dec. 12 in the main bar as the restaurant was closed and the choise although limited was good and food when it arrived was full of freshness and flavour and we would definately eat there again if we stay in bournemouth in the future - as we found thr hotel's location, services and faciliites all worth value for money. there are some areas of maintenance around the hotel and in the room that could do with a look at but nothing to distract from your stay - clean comfortable and value for money. ample parking (FREE) is available at the hotel, as are a guest swimming pool and childrens play area which we thought was a nice touch for families when it rains keeps the kids occupied. if your considering using the hotel on business there are ampple meeting and business facilites for both conference organisors and conference attendees. with private dining rooms and banquiting suites on site. we really couldnt complain for the price we paid and the service we received.

Room Tip: we asked for a quite room away from the stairs and lift and the staff were accommodating in our requ...

We stayed here overnight as part of a organised coach weekend to visit the local xmas markets.reception area was well presented then after that it went rapidly down hill!!! We were given a key card on the coach no instructions by staff of how to get to the room.when we arrived in the room it was like stepping back in the 70's decor was shabby to say the least.big holes in the flowery curtains, shabby and dirty blankets and I turned on the sick taps and brown water came out with grit!!! Towels were a dirty white and as thin as.we went down to the bar and to wait for five mins plus for someone to serve us ordered one large glass of rose wine and pint of beer which came to over nine pounds!!!! Table we sat at in the bar area was in need of a wipe and the chairs were grimey. Next was the included meal..mushroom rissotto was lacking in flavour and was served with sprouts potatoes and carrots gordon ramsey eat you're heart out!!! We didn't have a choice with the hotel that was picked but I would avoid this sad unhappy place.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

We booked a three night stay, bed and full English. The first two nights were very good, great breakfast apart from not having some items like scrambled egg unless you were prepared to wait 15 minutes. The third night was ok until we came down for breakfast at 8 o'clock. What we found was the resturant in darkness and reception with no one about. After calling out for a bit, someone appeared and was very surprised to see us to say the least. When I asked about breakfast he was stunned to find out that we had stayed the night in the hotel and told us that the hotel was actually closed for three days and he had no idea that we were in the building. This was a shock to us and raises some serious issues about safety. Needless to say we did not get the full English. They did make some effort to provide some breakfast items but not what we had paid for sadly. The staff apologised of course but thats not really good enough. I've emailed the parent group but surprise surprise, no response. Doubt well stay there again!

Room Tip: Check they are not closed during your stay

I have now been to this hotel twice on dancing holidays, after the first time I said we would not go again. The 2nd time was due to change of venue and this visit cofirmed my first opinion. The hotel should be good, location and building are good. Food was sub standard and there are management and staff issues that need to be resolved. There were 2 faults in the room that I reported just after arrival, the duty manager took the complaints and said they would be attended to, they were not. These were not the only problems. I have also stayed at the Wessex, it is owned by the same company and is in the same town, it is hard to understand why they are at opposite ends of the scale.

Room Tip: Choose the Wessex.

Booked a room on a late booking website £39 for 2 adults for one night, so didn't expect too much, after all we were going out and didn't expect to spend too much time in our room anyway!! The room itself was shabby, wallpaper hanging off, damp on the walls and the bed was tiny and rock hard!! Toiletries half used!!!!!!!!!! But what else would you expect for £39.....it was probably their worst room!! Didnt have breakfast as we over slept!!
