We have stayed here three times now and have never been disapointed. Ok its not 1st class but then your not paying those sort of prices. Our bedroom was comfortable and clean. The food was good although we did think that the portions were smaller this visit. Plus we had singers in the evening. All said for what we paid it was good value and the hotel is a short walk from the sea.

this is about our tenth visit to this hotel, and all i can say it just gets better. it is under new ownership, and they are very friendly indeed. came round evert day to have a chat and ask if everything was to your satisfaction. they joined in the evening entertainment. the meals are still very tasty. wonderful chef that has been there over 12 years. the accommodation is excellent although i see that some guests say that the rooms are smalkl. we always book a family room {nos, 12 or 24} although there are only two of us. i cannot really find fault with this hotel at all and it is reasonably priced. all in all good value. brenda0

We booked a family room with dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights, 28/29th July 2008. The family room was for for myself, my husband and our two grandchildren aged 21months and 10yrs.

As soon as we went to check in we were advised by a member of staff to 'check the room as it is very small'. This we did and it was extremely small. There was no space whatsoever. We were already surprised to have to pay an extra £7 per night for a cot and also to find that the cot was a travel cot. It was obviousy not a family room, one clue was that the iron and ironing board were at a perfect height for a toddler! We immediately complained, and were told that there were no spare rooms until the following day. Should we stay and move into the other room the following day or cancel and find another hotel? After a long drive with tired children we decided to suffer it for the one night, a mistake! But our biggest mistake was not checking out the room that had been promised for the following day. It was fractionally larger and had no bath just a shower, perfect for the toddler again especially with the iron/board at exactly the same height!

In general I felt that I detected a 'not particulary happy staff', of course I could be wrong. On a more positive note the food was very good and our waitress was lovely and helpful. But our three days in Bournemouth (we have come regularly over many years) was spoilt by our accommodation. We will be very careful to check out our hotels in the future, something we have never done in Bournemouth before and I will also be sending a copy of this review to the Bournemouth Tourist Board.

Thank you TripAdvisor we are so glad to have found you!

Three couples stopped here for the 2007 New Year Break. We had booked three Superior rooms.

Two of the rooms 52 and 50 were very small, 50 ridiculously so.while 54 had ongoing water supply problems.and 52 had badly cracked sanitary ware

All these problems were raised with staff at the time. With regard to room size , particuarly no 50 ,we were told it was indeed a Superior room. When we asked what constituted a Superior room we were told they were larger!!

I seriously cannot see how a smaller room could be a double at all.

Another problem with two of the rooms was that they constantly had cooking smells in them from the kitchen below.

Having mentioned the kitchen we all thought the food was excellent

Lastly a further dissapointment, the couple who organised the break , on their return wrote to the owner. He did ring back leaving a message and no for them to ring. This they have done several times but have only been able to leave messages with junior staff. To date ( 12/2/8) they have not had another attempt at contact ,either verbally or written, from the owner who they wrote to originally

We note that there are other comments regarding very small room size and poor water supply to some rooms..

We recently stayed at The New Westcliff Hotel in Bournemouth as we have been doing for the last 5 years. It is always nice to see the staff at the new westcliff hotel as they are so warm and welcoming and so very helpfull, they work so hard and always with a smile on their face, even when they are getting grief from very rude guests (as what happpened when we were there!) they dealt with the situation really well. The food is exceptional and always something new to try, we were there for a week and had something different every night. We also come to the New westcliff Hotel to take advantage of their many facilities such as the leisure club and cinema, they also have entertainment 5 nights a week which is at no extra cost. We have read some of the other not so complimenting reviews and wonder if these people stayed at the same hotel as we did! We will be returning very soon to the Wondefull Westcliff!

We have just returned from a short stay at the New Westcliff hotel and I cannot believe just how bad this hotel has become, we have been guests at this hotel over the last four years it and it was always very good value for money with wonderful helpful staff and if we ever had a problem the management were always there to help, not any more. I have never known such bad customer service in my life, very rude and discourteous. The food is still very good but not with the same amount of options. This hotel has still one good thing going for it and that is our lovely Franco nothing a problem to him, always gives his best. The management could take a leaf out of his book. I know things are more difficult these days running businesses but surely now more than ever staff should be more amicable especially management staff who are there to make sure their guests are kept happy. We definately wont be visiting the New Westcliff again, although I am sure this wont worry the management staff as there will always be another guest they can be ignorant too.
