Give it a miss, I stayed at this hotel recently, it needs serious refurbishment and updating, the room was so small we could hardly get around the bed nowhere to put your suitcase, the shower did not have a mat in it and it was like walking on a sheet of ice when the water ran.very very dangerous, no bathmat. The bed did not have any lights beside it only ceiling lights and lights over the mirror on the opposite wall no clock beside the bed. The teapot was not emptied, a jug we had for water was not emptied or taken from the room for two days.no clean glasses were left (they were very thin plastic) bedroom was not cleaned. The restaurant, very disorganised nobody is given a booking so if everybody goes down at one time you are left waiting for a very long time to be served. The food was awful very very basic broad beans and cauliflower for veg on one evening?. Not 3 star far from it. The staff were very pleasant but had nobody to organize them. This hotel needs a lot of attention to detail.

Stayed in the New Westcliff Hotel 13-18 Jan 12 while attending a course in Bournemouth. Firstly some positives - the building is quite attractive, it's in a decent location, prices are very good and the food is acceptable (particularly given the prices). Sadly, the prices are too good to be true and, as always, the reasons for the low costs become clear from the minute you walk in through the front door. The decor throughout is extremely tired with carpets badly stained and a generally musty air throughout. My room (and the rooms of the colleagues that I was staying with) were extremely small with barely room to walk around the bed. There was a small desk but the space around it was too small to accommodate a chair and was hence of no value for evening course study or work. The en suite was similarly tiny and tired, contained within a small cupboard in the corner of the room. The bed was appallingly uncomfortable, lumpy and covered in a cheap waterproof mattress protector that felt like a crisp packet beneath the sheet and led to sweating during the night. The sheets were extremely cheap, not fitted and came with blankets rather than a duvet. After enduring 3 nights of little sleep and falling behind with course-work, I politely explained my predicament to staff and inquired as to whether all the rooms and beds were the same and whether a move might be possible. I received a very short response that they were indeed all the same and that nothing could be done. As I was due to stay in the hotel for a further week of study in March, I asked (given that I had stayed for one week and had been unable to sleep or study) if it was possible to have a refund of my deposit for the second week. Again, the answer was a blunt 'no'. Although the hotel makes it clear that it won't refund deposits when you book, in these tough economic times customer service counts for a lot and businesses have to earn their custom and try to stand out from the competition - this is often simply achieved by being polite and flexible with customers. Well, to me, this tired, dirty and dated hotel offers an extremely cheap dinner, B&B option for people staying in Bournemouth who do not mind staying in an uncomfortable room and dealing with an attitude to customer service from an earlier age. If you want a cheap deal that does not compromise in these areas, I would look elsewhere. In my case, that includes forfeiting the deposit I have already paid for a stay in March - sometimes, a deal is too good to be true.

Room Tip: It would be hard to find less-desirable rooms in another hotel.

We went for a wknd break to enjoy the sea and the sun. The room was small, the towels very dirty!!! Breakfast was ok, the pool is very small, and we had to go in a different building, same like the jacuzzi, only for 4 people! We are not going back!

We have just returned from a weekend break at the hotel. The staffs were excellent as usual and always willing to give you their all to accommodate your request :-). The food ... wow it was amazing better than ever before, the chefs provide such a variety and a hard choice ever night so my husband and I decided to choose different dishes so that we could have a taste of each others food.

I can't fault the hotel in anything and can't understand some of the comments about this hotel. I do understand that some of the public areas are a little dated but you can see the standards the hotel will become by just looking at the amazing newly refurbished toilets.

The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towels provided, superb swimming and leisure facilities not to mention the cinema and the evening entertainment which was a great bonus to our break.

Well done to all the staff for all the hard work and good luck to the owners and wish you all the success and well done for the well noticed improvements so far..... Can't wait to come back early next year lol.
