“Disappointing”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

This was our second stay, and we were very disapointed. The shower was a dribble and poor temperature.
The room was small and cramped, and we had paid extra for a sea view, which was stunning but the room was tiny.
The bed was uncomfortable and the towels very small.
On Sat eve there was a party which went on until midnight with a poor quality sound system making our room vibrate. The manager took the price of a couple of drinks off our bill to say sorry, but as we hadn't had much sleep, it was a nice gesture but with all the other issues it did feel a bit hollow
We won't be going back.

We were initially given a very quiet room with a view but it was too small for the amount of shopping we did! No problem when asked for a bigger room - even had sea view which l wasn't expecting. All staff were courteous and friendly but the best feature was the breakfast - couldn't resist the full English every morning - but then we can't buy bacon or English sausages where we live!

Room Tip: Ask for the biggest room with a sea view - you can't go wrong for the money !

The room and bathroom were very small. Hand held shower attachment only. Guests were noisy and inconsiderate very late at night.. Creeking floorboards in our bedroom wasn't a problemn but in the bedroom directly above us the noise kept us awake until 3.30am. They obviously had friends in the room. The breakfast was good. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Room Tip: I didn't see any other rooms.

First went to evening dinner at the newly refurbished hotel two years ago and thought it was very good. We went again this September with the same friends and found the food and service dreadful. The staff did not appear to understand any English-one said she had been there two hours-so were very unhelpful. The evening meal included a small glass of wine which one of our friends did not want .She asked the waiter if she could have a lager shandy instead-he said he would ask and some time later returned with her shandy. When we got the bill a charge had been made for it-by which time we were too fed up to care!
The prawn cocktails consisted of two pieces of cucumber each with a few prawns on them-no lettuce, tomato or brown bread. When we asked about a roll with the soup we were told it had croutons in it-four.The less said about the main course the better, the sweet was fine-what there was of it!
I have written to the hotel-which incidently was very shabby after only two years-but needless to say I have not had a reply.

We stayed for 2 nights , the room was clean, the bed extremely comfortable, and the buffet and cooked breakfast were of a very good standard. Although I have to agree with the criticisms of previous reviewers that the water pressure was low and the fact that there was no 'stand up' shower ,this didn't alter our view that it is overall a great value stay. I would stay again.

Good value overnight stay. Took the three course evening meal option, good value and so bought breakfast. Excellent value. The staff were very helpful especially those on reception. Definitely would visit again.

Room Tip: Sea view preferable.

After staying in the Langtry Manor Hotel, for the same price we stayed here, what a terrible place. The room was small, dirty, poor furnishings and the bathroom was from the 70's nothing worked properly.
The only thing that offered anything resembling being looked after was the staff and the food at breakfast.
I did try to explain to the staff my disappointment, but they simply agreed and offered no help or solution apart from saying that they know and things will change.
It is a great location, ruined by a complete lack of care, value and understanding. This is my second visit to this downbeat hotel and things are just getting worse.......never again.
