Super grub (excellent naan breads), nice ambience with modern stylish feel, and just the right sort of attentive, thoughtful service. Well worth a visit.

We have been eating at this restaurant for over a year and the staff are consistently welcoming and friendly and the food always beautifully cooked and good value for money. Why more people haven't discovered it especially their lunch deal at under a tenner with coffee thrown in is a mystery.

I had high hopes for the Mint Leaf because, at the time, it was the best-rated Indian restaurant in Bournemouth here on TripAdvisor. I booked a table for 8 people for my birthday.

We were quickly shown to our table, given menus and asked if we would like poppadoms and dips brought over - which we agreed to. It was 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink and food order, and after ordering we had to ask three times for tap water. The waiter informed us that they were very busy (nearly every table in there was full), so would we like some more poppadoms and dips while we waited? We said yes, hoping it wouldn't be too long.

A full 30 minutes later, our meals arrived. The food was okay. The curry dishes were warmed in the middle of the table and it all tasted average. I usually get Indian takeaways from two places regularly, and I have to say that this food did not match up to my regular takeaways. They were nothing spectacular.

It probably took them another 30 minutes to take the plates away, and we had difficult getting anyone's attention to ask for dessert menus. We finally ordered dessert but it was so forgettable that I can't even remember what I had - a slice of chocolate cake perhaps? It was bland and boring and a waste of money.

After another 30 minutes we still hadn't had our dessert plates taken away and it took great effort to get somebody's attention to ask for the bill - even though it's a small restaurant! The wait staff just weren't aware.

When the bill eventually arrived, it was scribbled on a piece of paper and we could hardly read the person's handwriting. From what we could read, there were unexplained charges, for example "drinks £17.80" and "dessert £18.50". This didn't help us as a group, because we wanted to pay separately and we are used to being presented with a till receipt that we could actually read. When we asked somebody to explain the bill to us, he got very angry and said we were trying to wriggle out of paying the full amount. It turned out that there was a disagreement about one of the dishes - if you wanted the Tikka Masala sauce with Chicken, you were actually charged for Tikka Masala sauce with Chicken Tikka Masala - so a Chicken Tikka Tikka Masala. The waiter did not understand how ridiculous this sounded, but agreed to let us off the £1 per dish that had been added on. The poppadoms and dips were insanely expensive - charging us something like £5 per set of dips - and we had two. They also got the number of poppadoms wrong. Throughout the explanation (read argument) it was discovered that they had overcharged us on several items and only changed these when the menu was produced as evidence. Even though the waiter agreed to the final price, we were left with a sour taste in our mouths as we could've paid £20 more than we should have.

I was disgusted with the service and that they tried to charge us £20 more. The food was average at best, and if it weren't for the cosy atmosphere I would've left.
