Description: Gilbey's Restaurant in Bournemouth is situated in the Liston Hotel which is two minutes from the Cliff Top Gardens in Boscombe Spa. The large open restaurant with polished oak floor and wall murals of Edwardian days on the pier compliments the cosy bar and entrance hall with original features dating back to the turn of the century. Our food is modern English/French with some influences from the rest of the World. “Well Done Gilbey's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2014

Dined here recently, based on the many recommendations on this site and my only disappointment was the fact that we had not discovered this gem of a restaurant much sooner. We were greeted by attentive, friendly staff and enjoyed delicious canapés whilst browsing the menu. Both the food and the wine are reasonably priced and of exceptional quality. We enjoyed a relaxing evening and will most certainly return. I have one very minor point which did not detract from the dining experience; I thought that the ambience of the dining area could be improved by simply dimming the lights.

“Very good”

Delicious Sunday lunch, had scallops to start with crab, delicious, albeit a very small portion (even for modern dining standards)

Roast beef for main was delicious! Very tasty all in all...

“Fantastic Food,staff and value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2014

Thanks to Tripadvisor we found this restaurant at short notice and what a lovely find it was. Staff were very friendly and attentive without being "oily". Pre dinner drinks with canapés followed by an amuse bouche whilst awaiting the lovely starters then quite possibly the nicest fillet steak I have ever had (53 1/2 yrs so I have eaten a few steaks!). Drinks and wine very reasonably priced and very drinkable. I would recommend this restaurant - the food is exquisite. GBP 35 for three course. With pre dinner drinks and liqueurs total £110.

“Excellent evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2014 via mobile

Staying in bournemouth looking for somewhere to eat, so used trip advisor and decided on Gilbeys.
The reviews were good and they were'nt wrong, one of the best meals we have had, Diane the owner was a lovely host, her son the chef was excellent and his wife behind the bar recommending the wine made a great team.
All the staff were very attentive but not over the top, the main star was the food, thank you very much for a great evening we will be back.

“Great for sunday lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

Fourteen of us celebrated granddad's 87th birthday at Gilbey's. We relaxed in the beautiful flower garden where the staff took our order and then moved into the seaside themed restaurant. The starters and main dishes were all good with plenty of extra Yorkshire puddings and fresh vegetables. The staff were charming and attentive throughout. We were slightly disappointed with the puddings and felt the selection, for instance, strawberries and cream or apple crumble and custard didnt quite live up to the rest of the menu. But the coffee was good! And altogether it was a great way to celebrate.

Thank for your review - glad you enjoyed your granddad's birthday celebration. We make all
the desserts from scratch here it is a Sunday lunch not fine dining evening meal. We offered
Bramley Apple and Rhubarb crumble, Rhubarb freshly picked from our garden that morning Strawberries and Cream (because it was the start of Wimbledon and Strawberries are at their best it certainly is not a regular on our menu) Almond and Marzipan Cream with Soft Amaretti and Almond Cantucci Biscuits, Creme Brulee with homemade shortbread biscuit, Tiramisu with mixed berries and of course a selection of English and Continental Cheeses with Biscuits and homemade bread
